This really felt like a turning point, even though many of the characters’ stories are still ongoing.

I’m curious to see how Claire’s father reacts when she tells him of her powers, if he’ll act as though he didn’t know, or if he’ll open up to her about the things he knows.

And as far as Peter getting arrested, Claire’s witness report should be more than enough to get him out of jail. I could see Claire telling her father how Peter regenerated like she did, thinking that there are more people who can do what she can. Also, did that part when Peter regenerated seem way too predictable to anyone else? From the second I saw the painting of him dead, it seemed pretty obvious that Claire would be somewhere nearby and he’d come back to life.

I’m really excited to see how this episode’s events resolve, but I’m afraid that will have to wait two weeks, with next weeks episode titled "Six Months Ago" and the one after that "Fallout," I guess we’re going to see what Hiro’s been up to first–likely becoming fluent in english, thanks to the help of his new friend that can learn Japanese in a day, and hopefully becoming a badass with a samurai sword.

Agreed – I’m quite happy that they hit this point, as I was concerned that they would milk the "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" story until the end of the season, and not even get to the future that Hiro saw.

I’m definitely curious as to what’s going to happen to Sylar now that Claire’s Dad’s People (do we have a name for them?) have him.

Something that is bugging me, that I don’t know if it’s a whole in the plot or what. If we assume that FutureHiro’s timeline, Claire didn’t survive (thus the reason he went back to tell Peter "Save the cheerleader, save the world") then Peter would of had no way to able to regenerate himself (no Claire around to absorb powers from), but FutureHiro obviously knew Peter from the future ("You look different without your scar"). How could Hiro know Peter from the future if he couldn’t of survive the encounter with Sylar?

But if he didn’t know about the cheerleader then he wouldn’t have been in Texas to face Sylar at all. Saving the cheerleader is the big turning point in the timeline, now they have someone who can stop nuke guy.

She’ll probably end up stopping him with a hug or something cheesy like that, seeing as he kills anyone who gets close to him

Gawd, yes! Not only are they *not* going to kill possibly the most important character, but they make it so obvious to the viewer about how they’re going to try to kill him and fail. It was a huge story problem.

At least, we know that Peter knows what his real power is. However, I think they’re going to need to define its bounds a bit more. He’s still healing (though, possibly slower) when the cops show up, as he’s able to unmangle his ankle. Is this because he’s still "near" Claire, or because her power is still lingering in him?

Also, he seemed to be much more capable of using Isaac’s powers than Isaac, but didn’t seem at all able to fight Sylar with Sylar’s power (which, btw, seems to be either very well-controlled TK or something more than TK). Did the locker doors miss him because Sylar missed, or because Peter deflected them?

      • Re: Things are moving along nicely
I’m with you on the boundaries thing, the writers are kind of all over the place with their powers.

For example, in earlier episodes Claire’s body would absorb any blood on her skin but in this episode both Peter and her have blood streaks all over them. What’s up with that?

He deflected them. Self-preservation reflex of a power he does not understand.
And Sylar has a power like Peter’s, except that he permanently absorbs new powers by eating the brains of the powerfull. Hence his "no pattern" in his series of killings: His methods change with each new power, and the victims all have something unknown to the police in common (powers).

Therefore, if he’d eaten Claire’s brain, she would be dead for real (remember the date rape stick-in-the-brain autopsy fun) and Sylar would become unstopable. If he eats radioactive man’s brain after that, he becomes a walking nuke… and there goes NY.

Save the illegitimate child of Buffy and Wolverine, save the world.

Have they proven yet that Sylar permanently absorbs the powers of the heroes he kills. I had kind of assumed that but don’t think its ever been directly stated.

No, I think y42 is conjecturing. We don’t know he absorbs powers. We only know he goes for the brain.

From Claire’s head trauma, we learned that damage to her brain impeded her power. While that may be specific only to her, it seems irrelevant to anyone else since removing someone’s brain is going to kill him, regardless of mutant powers.

He deflected them. Self-preservation reflex of a power he does not understand.

More conjecture, but plausible given the cliché

Hence his "no pattern" in his series of killings

Pattern: no fingerprints. FBI lady has said this a couple of times. There are no fingerprints because he doesn’t have to touch anything, although that makes it much more out-of-place when he grabs Wrong Cheerleader by the neck without gloves.

The only victim I remember seeing had been impaled on the stair rail somehow (Was there a brain missing? It’s the episode when they introduce the cop.), but they couldn’t figure out how one person could do that. It seems he has strong telekinetic abilities. But, as a TK, I don’t know if scalpel-like slicing can be explained.

  2. Prediction
    A) They saved the wrong cheerleader, and therefore did not save the world.

    B) We’ll now go back in time for Hiro to fix everything, so forget whatever we’ve seen so far.
