Weekly Comics Discussion – May 2, 2007

The complete list is in the usual place.

Dark Horse Comics

  • BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #3 – To be reviewed this weekend.
  • STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC #16

DC Comics

  • 52 WEEK #52
  • GREEN LANTERN #19
  • SUPERMAN #662
  • SUPERNATURAL ORIGINS #1 – A prequel series to the CWTV series.

D.E. Comics

  • BATTLESTAR GALACTICA CYLON APOCALYPSE #3 – Do you want the Battlestar Galactica comics reviewed?

Image Comics

  • SPAWN #167

Marvel Comics

  • ASTONISHING X-MEN #21
  • AVENGERS INITIATIVE #2 – The first issue was better than I expected.
  • CIVIL WAR CAPTAIN AMERICA – Including the Captain America issues reviewed here and the Winter Soldier one-shot reviewed here. Does not contain Captain America 25, featuring the death of Captain America.
  • CIVIL WAR WOLVERINE – Includes the Wolverine issues reviewed here.
  • CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS – Includes the miniseries reviewed here.
  • DARK TOWER GUNSLINGER BORN #4 (OF 7) – I’m betting the trade paperback version becomes the best selling North American graphic novel in the bookstore market when it debuts.
  • FANTASTIC FOUR VISIONARIES WALTER SIMONSON VOL 1 – Includes issues 334-341, which I own on DVD-ROM, but haven’t read yet.
  • FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #20 – A highly amusing series.
  • GHOST RIDER TRAIL OF TEARS #4 (OF 6)
  • INCREDIBLE HULK #106 – Kicking off the World War Hulk event.
  • IRON MAN #17 – I’m liking this title since Warren Ellis relaunched it with Extremis. (I picked up issues 1-12 in TPB form.)
  • LONERS #2 (OF 6) – A spinoff of the excellent Runaways. I haven’t read this, but plan to go for the TPB.
  • MARVEL ZOMBIES ARMY OF DARKNESS #3 (OF 5) – Ash vs. versions of Marvel characters? I missed the solicitation for the launch of the series, but I’ll keep an eye out for a TPB.
  • MS MARVEL #15 – Part of the Initiative.
  • OMEGA FLIGHT #2 (OF 5)
  • RUNAWAYS #26 – Joss Whedon’s second issue on the title.
  • SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #1
  • ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR #41
  • WORLD WAR HULK PROLOGUE WORLD BREAKER – Also kicking off the big event.

The last 52 will be reviewed this week.

Meanwhile, for those who haven’t yet seen this Marvel/DC ad parody….

  2. Title not listed, that I’m totally getting.
A title that you didn’t put on the list that I’m definitely picking up – the first volume of the new Gunsmith Cats manga. I really enjoyed the original series, and I eagerly hope that the new series lives up to the reputation of the old.
