Yeah, the whole thing. Variety has a few details, but it looks like Paramount will no longer be (mis)managing the license. Paramount has owned the property since 1967 when it’s then-parent Gulf+Western acquired Desilu Productions.
No word on how (or if) this affects the 11th film being written and directed by J.J. Abrams.
Er, no
I think you are confused – I think Virgin bought the rights to show ALL of Star Trek on its network.

Re: Er, no
From the article: "the entire ‘Star Trek’ franchise." It doesn’t mention rights anywhere. I’ll try and hunt down some serious details.
Re: Er, no
It said…
Dunno why it would mention hours unless it meant rights…

A little clarification
Slice of SciFi has an article that clarifies this up a little. It appears in purchasing the franchise, they also have acquired the rights to air it. (I think)…
Not the franchise itself
I think you’ll find that they didn’t buy the franchise, they just bought the rights to show it all. That’ll irritate Sky a LOT, but it doesn’t get Paramount out of the way.
Ok bad joke time
Looking at the title I thought, "How is this news? A typical fan buys some DVDs?" and then I realised it was Virgin the company…
Re: Ok bad joke time
Brilliant. :)))

It’s just the rights to the shows
