‘Heroes’ Nabs Eight Emmy Nominations

Pretty good showing for genre shows. Lost nabbed six nominations and Battlestar Galactica got four.

  1. My picks
BSG deserves, at the bare minimum, to win the effects nomination. The direction award would be nice.

Heroes should get an award for Masi Oka, if nothing else. They don’t deserve effects, as BSG has them well outclassed in that neighborhood.

Lost, I could take or leave for these awards, but I haven’t looked at the complete list to see what, exactly, everybody got nominated for outside of what’s mentioned in the article.

    • I disagree with the nominations
I don’t see how Heroes deserves more than BSG, which is wayyy better. Heroes is good and all, but BSG is one of the finest things ever, and certainly one of the best TV shows currently around if not the best. I hope they win in every category they were nominated for. It’d be even cooler if they also won in some they’re not nominated for.

I think in part it had to do with mass appeal – many more people watch Heroes than BSG, it has captured the public’s interest in a similar way to Lost a few years ago.

Awards are not actually given based on merit.

precisely. Heroes was on a major network, so it couldn’t be ignored just because it’s scifi, but the ghetto effect still claims cable victims like BSG. It’s entirely unfair, and has nothing to do with artistic merit.
