Weekly Digital Disc Picks – August 7, 2007

Yes, this column is going up REALLY early this week. I’ll be heading out of province for the weekend, so it’s either coming up early or late, so I’m going with early. That’ll give everyone the extra time they need to sift through an unusually long list, anyway.

First, the DVD releases:

Now, the Blu-Ray releases:

Here are the HD DVD releases:

Finally, the pick of the week. I’ve got to go with the underrated and underappreciated Bubba Ho-Tep. If you haven’t seen it, you owe it to yourself to change that.

  1. Bubba Ho-Tep
So what is Bubba Ho-Tep about, anyway? I’ve heard it’s a really good movie, but that’s pretty much all I know.

(Yeah, I could look it up, but I’m interested in what the people here have to say. And I’m lazy. ;)

Timeshredder summed it up pretty well in his review.

You were right, Fiz. I could’ve given that at least one more point for originality.

  2. Reason for the Elvis overload
As the son of an Elvis fan I know that Elvis died 30 years ago this month on August 16, 1977.

  3. This is what we call
The Muppet Show! And I’ve been waiting for S2 for a long time.

Lets see what The Simpsons had for S10. Oh my. Some of my least favourite episodes. In fact, there’s only one that I’d REALLY like to have ("Thirty Minutes over Tokyo") and I’m not getting the whole set for that, I’m afraid. Then again, I also said I wouldn’t be getting S9, and I did. So we’ll see.
