quecojones writes, According to Trek Today,it seems that Wil Wheaton will be playing Wesley again in Star Trek: Nemesis, the tenth Trek film. You can read about it here. Should I be sad (Wesley is back)? :( Should I be happy (he might die a horrible death)? :) In his Slashdot interview, Wil said that we wanted his character present during one scene in which a full crew reunion would make sense. More spoilers about the specific type of scene are in that interview.
Before The Rants Start…
After Reading His Slashdot Interview, I Found Out That Wil Is Really A Kewl Guy. If You want To Trash Wesley, Go For It, But Make Sure To Seperate The Two.
Hell, If He Does Die A Horrible Death, Congratulate Wil For Making It Look Good.
Re: Before The Rants Start…
I do not want to trash Will. But I did get tired of the “Wonder kid Saves the day” plots on ST:TNG.
There were a lot of shots of his back, but it never did anything for me, now that esign with all the rules (Robin Lefler), Yum.
Re: Before The Rants Start…
I have to agree that the character didn’t sit well with me either. However, if you catch his last episode as a regular, “Final Mission” (the one where he and Picard are marooned after a shuttle crash) you start to see a glimmer of what Wesley could have been.
It seems a lot of the fault with Wil’s character stems from the writing. A cameo in ST:X would be a nice bit of resolution, something we rarely get from Star Trek.
Re: Before The Rants Start…
Sure. After reading his interview, I started to respect the actor. I still hate the character, but I’m not that far gone that I can’t tell the difference. :)
