Weekly Comics Discussion – September 12, 2007

The list is in the usual spot. The column is up early as I’ll be out of town on business for a few days, and can’t guarantee timely internet access.

Dark Horse Comics

  • STAR WARS LEGACY #16
  • STAR WARS REBELLION #10

DC Comics

  • 100 BULLETS #85
  • BLACK ADAM THE DARK AGE #2 (OF 6)
  • BOOSTER GOLD #2
  • COUNTDOWN 33
  • COUNTDOWN SEARCH FOR RAY PALMER WILDSTORM #1
  • ENCYCLOPEDIA OF COMICBOOK HEROES VOL 3 SUPERMAN
  • FABLES #65
  • FRIDAY THE 13TH SUMMER VACATION #1 (OF 2)
  • GREEN LANTERN #23
  • GREEN LANTERN SINESTRO CORPS SPECIAL 4TH PTG #1 – I’m not sure why I’m pointing this out. If you didn’t pick it up the first three times I recommended it, you probably won’t pick it up this time, either….
  • JLA WEDDING SPECIAL #1
  • SHOWCASE PRESENTS BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS VOL 1
  • SUPERMAN #667
  • SUPERMAN DEATH AND RETURN OF SUPERMAN OMNIBUS
  • TRIALS OF SHAZAM #8 (OF 12)
  • WONDER GIRL #1 (OF 6)

Image Comics

  • WALKING DEAD #42

Marvel Comics

  • CIVIL WAR CHRONICLES #3
  • DAREDEVIL #100 – I am VERY pumped about this release. Brubaker’s been knocking it out of the park every issue to date, and he keeps saying he’s got something really special planned for this extra long special. Look for a painted wraparound cover variant.
  • ESSENTIAL PUNISHER VOL 2 TP
  • GHOST RIDER #15
  • HEROES FOR HIRE #13 – Part of World War Hulk.
  • LONERS #5 (OF 6)
  • MOON KNIGHT #12 – This Initiative crossover issue FINALLY hits the market to wrap up the story arc begun as a “Casualty of War”.
  • NEW AVENGERS #34 – The Skrull invasion continues.
  • NEW AVENGERS TRANSFORMERS #3 (OF 4)
  • NOVA – Annihilation: Conquest crossover.
  • THOR #3 – Iron Man decides Thor should register. Thor doesn’t like being told what to do.
  • ULTIMATE POWER #7 (OF 9) – It’s been good, but slow coming out.
  • ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #113
  • ULTIMATE X-MEN #86
  • X-FACTOR #23
  • X-MEN EMPEROR VULCAN #1 – Picking up with Brubaker’s excellent “Rise and Fall of the Shi’Ar Empire” arc on Uncanny X-Men. Sadly, it’s not written by Brubaker himself, so I’m waiting for reviews before I decide to buy it myself.

  1. Groo
Dark Horse is releasing a special 25th anniversary issue of Groo this week, as well as a Groo miniseries starting in a few weeks.

    Groo is great!

This is an interesting issue. It gives more background information on how the Jedi master A’Sharad Hett became Darth Krayt, including a lightsaber battle on Tatooine with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Also has an unusual fight between Cade Skywalker and Darth Talon.

All in all, the comic left me wanting more.
