  1. it’s ok
I watched I have 2 complaints about it (spoilered just in case somebody is watching the reruns on the SciFi channel):

    1. Hasn’t the shadowy government or other organization saving/destroying the world been played out yet? It sucked when it was a major part of X-files and it’s not much better now.

    2. They really, really should bring back the original bionic sound from the ’70’s. It’s just not the same.

I thought Threshold was cool. The good guys were[/w] the shadowy gov. org.

That makes one that liked Threshold. Man that show was awful.

  2. Well…
So far I would say it is of on an ‘OK’ footing but they still aren’t giving us hints on directions they plan to head. So far it is a good watch but they aren’t doing anything "unique" really.

So basically so far it is your standard "empowered chick kicks butt" show.

Although I will give them credit for awesome nods to the viewers. For example last nights show they walked into a town where everyone was killed and when they walked into one of the homes the TV has Battlestar Galactica on. :)

I’m still watching it… we’ll see how it goes.

      2 Galactica items:
      1. Did Sackoff get implants or are they padding her shirt because I don’t remember Starbuck being that stacked.

      2. While I’m on the Starbuck topic, does anybody see a lot of similarities in the mannarisms between Jamie and Kara? Similar facial expressions and such?

At the moment, I’m starting to take issue with some of the fighting. Sara should have been able to tattoo her name on Jamie’s forehead!
She has considerably more experience using her bionics.
She is a trained soldier, which makes her lethal, without the hardware.
      She has 2 bionic arms.

Then I take issue with Jaye’s sparing with Jamie.
He came at her the same way Sara did, which tells us that he was her teacher. Even though Jamie never landed a solid blow, he wouldn’t be able to compete with her like this. She should have tossed him across the room when he tried that shoulder breaker.

I don’t so much take issue as question her fight with that soldier. The body-slaming wasn’t exactly standard, but there was some MCMAB-esque to his fighting. My question is how much did he know about her? He went out of his way to avoid her legs and right arm. And also drove home the point that she still has vulnerable spots.

Ok first off, apparently i was wrong about her boyfriend … clearly he did die. i could have sworn they showed him still alive (maybe that was another difference between the advanced pilot and the broadcast one and my mind just blurred them together). frankly killing him off is incredibly stupid.

you should rewatch the "sparring session" and listen closely to what Jay tells her at the end — he specificly tells her it was a "demo" fighting program hardwired into her …. he says Sarah was "calibrating her".

aparently the writers decided that by establishing in the pilot that combat training had been uploaded to her brain, and now she could fight like a ninja warrior didn’t give them any room to grow … so they are back pedaling and revising their story to claim that even though she’s really strong, the bad-ass ass-kicking they showed her doing in the pilot is something she can only do with those set moves in that sequence … which is why she’s so clumsy fighting the the "normal" soldier in this episode.

On the whole … this is shaping out to be an "average" show — which by comparison to what it clearly could be makes it seem incredibly bad. it’s like seeing a woman who could clearly be gorgeous if she put in a little effort walk around in frumpy clothes and tangled hair with spaghetti sauce on her chin — you just want to cry and the injustice.

the sister is a waste of space and time — either do more with her, or do nothing — even more so with her friends. we don’t need the CSI style fly through of her bionics when she uses them, we don’t need "hard ass" characters who are really soft and cuddly "deep down" … i can’t even begin to list the countless "little" things that are making this show lame.

I mean for crying out loud: "Alias" had more edginess then this, and it was just an excuse to have jenifer garner in slutty clothes in the odd numbered scenes, and kicking ass in the even numbered scenes.

    • Before I try to watch it

basically so far it is your standard "empowered chick kicks butt" show.

I figured as much from the ads where the little girl in the car said "I just though it was cool that a girl could do that, that’s all."

My question is: Is it kick-ass girls, like Robocop’s partner, or is it the kind where they can’t pull that off so they just make every male around her a bumbling fool, like in Terminator 3?
      I fear it’s the latter.

Well, at least 2 of the normal men seem competent. Pope looks to be an average or above average skilled operative. Jae, well untrained or no, he held his own with a woman who could make bone paste out of him in one kick.

Even the anonymous soldier against whom Jamie faced off held his own. It remains to be seen whether she will be plowing through large groups of supposedly skilled enemies (which often annoys me unless one of the super powers is "invulnerability"), but so far I haven’t had a problem with the fighting – even the first fight against Sarah starts to make more sense after the explanation in this second episode.

I’ll admit I was playing EVE while watching so my attention was split (might say what i think of the show so far)

I found it plausible in my half watching during this scene that she kept forgetting to kick him in teh nads or hit him with her arm, and while she had super strength she had no technique so she could super punch and miss because he can still dodge.

Which hopefully they’ll start to address quickly, as watching her flail around aimlessly is kinda annoying after a bit. Learn Kung Fu or something.

  3. I’m on the fence about this one.
I almost gave up after the first episode. The whole ‘I’ve got artificial limbs so I’ll go insane’ thing with the first bionic woman seemed lame and it almost looked like they were going with the ‘oh, poor me, I’m not human anymore’ idea.
And I really didn’t like the evil dad who magically escapes from the deep dark prison to wonder into the wilderness to create a evil lair story.
But the second episode worked better for me and I do like the BSG references. So I’ll give it another episode. I would also like to see the ‘real life’ stuff go away. How is she supposed to take care of her sister and keep a job bartending if she could disappear at any moment for several days without notice or explanation? I don’t need realism in fantasy shows but this pushes it a bit. I would rather see her accept her new position and even embrace it, as in, ‘Whoa, look at all the cool things I can do’. In the book all these shows originated from (I forget the author and title), there was a really cool scene where the bionic man was running though the desert and fell asleep due to exhaustion. He woke up some time later to find he was still running as the legs kept running the last command. It would be interesting to see some things like that. But not so far as to have the bad guys cracking the encryption and taking over control.
Now that I’ve fixed this show, I’ll go watch Torchwood.

      Torchwoods back?!!!

        Torchwoods back?!!!

Should have been more clear. Torchwood, first season, is on BBC America

  4. Quickly losing interest
They couldn’t find any other show for McBurke? Seriously?

Please, please, please, PLEASE don’t let McBurke be the new love interest for my favorite girl from Eastenders. Seriously!

So far I have to say this entire series is miscast. Kara Thrace does make an awesome Cylon..er..Bionic Woman prototype…but she’s just damn awesome anyway.

Other than Kara, my interest is waning…Seriously.
