Relatively spoiler free, here is a quick glimpse into the next and final season of Battlestar Galactica.

Wow. Very simple. Wow. It looks like they’ve now filmed farther into the season. Laura shooting someone(thing), Tighe drawing a gun on Adama(?!) in the command center. When last I knew (from interviews), it seemed to the actors who were playing them that the known four (of the final five) were recovering from their shock of self-discovery and were integrating (somewhat) back into their human roles. A few episodes farther along that would appear to not be the case.

They ain’t Cylons ’till I see multiple copies.
Still not sure That preview has done nothing to convince me that they can recover from the reveal of the "four" cylons.
And I still hold that Starbuck better not be a cylon.
I’m not sure they are going to recover from the plot twist that destroyed all that we’d grown to like about four of the characters on the show. It was a great shocking twist, but now they have to make these "new" characters fit within the show, there are just so many plot holes with the backstories of these "cylons".

But if they’ve just been brainwashed to think they’re Cylons, then there are no plot holes, hurrah!
And Starbuck ejected at the last second and was rescued by the heavy raider she was following. They went to the trouble of jamming a camera in between her seat and the side of the ship to film her hand on the ejector seat, they didn’t do that for nothing.

rabble rabble If they split that season to cover 2008 and 2009 I’m getting a pitchfork and gonna go storm me some offices. freaking ridiculous.
BSG coming was the first time I’d watched Sci-Fi again after cancelling farscape because it cost, not because people quit watching. I thought they’d redeemed themselves.
But splitting the series into multiple DVD sets, and telling people that the DVR is the reason they cancel shows now has really pushed me to the ‘bite me, I don’t need this’ edge when it comes to television programming.

But splitting the series into multiple DVD sets, and telling people that the DVR is the reason they cancel shows now has really pushed me to the ‘bite me, I don’t need this’ edge when it comes to television programming.
Just some random thoughts…. Broadcasters blame TiVo and other DVR’s as the reason they cancel shows. Presumably this is because last I checked Nielson doesn’t have a mechanism to count DVR viewers. Doesn’t TiVo keep stats on viewing since they have 2 way communication with your set top box? How many TiVo viewers are there in this country? I’ll wager is more than the number of Nielson reporters. How much money do you think TiVo could make if the sold their viewer data to the networks the same way Neilson does?
And a final thought: being able to collect the varying voltages coming into our homes in a manner so as to permit them to be stored and interpreted as picture and sound is not new. It’s called the VCR. Its been around for more than 30 years. I almost never get a chance to watch stuff when its on, so I tape it. Does that mean if I was a Nielson reporter it would seem like 20,000 people didn’t watch NCIS because I wasn’t sitting there at 8:00, when in fact I watched at 10:00 and again the next morning? Since I watched it twice, shouldn’t that be the same as 40,000 people watching once?

After they were finished wiring everything up, with its wires running in and out and the box with its attendent phone connection I called my set the Frankenset. I got a few dollars a month from them for my inconvenience.
They claimed to still be working on an answer for DVR. Regarding DVR, one of their primary hurdles is software/firmware. They would almost have to install custom software/firmware for each box they monitor. That is a challenge.
