Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather Coming To U.S. Television

chad writes, A movie version of Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather novel is coming to US television later this month (Nov. 25th on ION). For those who don’t remember, this is the one where an assassin is hired to take out the mythical character Hogfather, who is similar to Santa Claus. Weirdly enough, the assassination attempt involves the tooth fairy.

If you’ve never read any of Pratchett’s Discworld novels, I suggest starting with The Last Hero.

I watched it, it is very good. It lives up to the book to a remarkable degree, and that was a good book!
The effects were also quite excellent, much better than what you’d expect for a made-for-British-tv movie.

  2. It was ok
I would say that it wasn’t as good as I’d dreamed, but it was better than I’d feared. I wasn’t particularly happy with the casting of David Jason as Albert as he seemed to be doing his ‘comedy’ voice, making him sound like Dangermouse.

It was broadcast as 2 x 2 hour programmes in the UK, in reality, if they’d skipped the ‘making of’ and ‘previously on’ bits it would have been 2 x 1.5 hours long.
