They became "organic" for a while – like in the movies! significant point of contention for a lot of people. I’m of two minds – a) why not? I mean, he’s part radioactive/genetically mutated spider, right? vs. b) um…should they really be coming out of his wrists, then? I don’t wanna know, actually. Plus, playing up Peter’s "I’m a super-smart inventor guy on the side" angle is usually pretty cool.

As hitch mentioned, the change was recent. Specifically, it was in the "Spectacular Spider-Man" portion of the "Avengers: Disassembled" event from a few years back (which was monumental clue number one that Spidey would be an Avengers when the dust settled.) This change was rarely mentioned in the series that followed.

I read your editorial about this whole thing fiziko and I gotta say, for such an avid collector you’re taking this in stride. I wonder what the back door is to reset everthing back to "normal." Probably Mephisto… lame.
