‘Jaws’ star Roy Scheider dies at 75

A versatile actor, Scheider was no stranger to genre fans, staring in the first two Jaws films, 2010, and the TV series SeaQuest DSV. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in ‘All that Jazz.’

  1. So long Roy, we’ll miss ya!
The first movie I saw him in was Jaws (well, parts of it, I was only 6), but I always thought he was a great actor.

What I loved with Jaws is how I get the feeling of ordainary guy taking on a problem, not some polished Hollywood superhero. 2010 isn’t his best either (though obviousy relating to this genre) – there are a fantastic number of what may be B-movies that he also lends gravitas to.

  2. A shame…
I just watched 2010 the other day…I like Roy, though I think in that movie, his lines sounded too…rehearsed or something – it’s hard to explain. Actually much of the acting feels like that, so I don’t blame Roy but the director perhaps. In any case, it’s a shame he’s gone.
