  1. Gained a level
He just gained a level and now gets to help the Dungeon Master create real worlds.

  2. Many many hundreds of hours
I’ve spent playing RPG’s, all inspired by that first D&D boxed set a friend had picked up. My Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, Monster Manual, original Deities & Demigods, and Fiend Folio have since gathered some dust, but I’ll never, ever forget the geek-bonding ritual of the weekend D&D club, the thrill of scoring a critical hit on that terrible lich-king at the crucial moment, and the genuine anguish of ripping up that carefully crafted twelfth level illusionist with his hand-drawn artwork cover and his custom-painted figurine, killed by a minor monster, just as he was starting to be capable of really *doing something*.

Gary, after years of therapy over that incident I can finally forgive you and your lame-ass class structure. I hope Asmo-baby is roasting your droopy ass over a pit of hot coals … I mean, um … So long Gary, and thanks for all the rust-monsters. :)

In all seriousness, this man revolutionized a "fun afternoon" for those of us geeks unlucky enough to have been born pre-Doom, but lucky enough to be able to afford a few sets of funny-looking dice at the local comic shop. I’m grateful for the muse that inspired him. I hope wherever he’s gone if he’s not participating in fantastic adventures first hand, he’s still dreaming up new ones for others.

Rest in peace, oh Greatest DM. :)

    -Joe G.
