Deathly Hallows to be Broken into Two Movies

Something to make Harry Potter fans (especially the purists) very happy: The final book will be made into two films, tentatively titled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.

According to David Yates, the director, the other books had compartmentalized subplots that were easy to excise. Book 7 lacks the subplots and is all main story.

Release dates are set for November 2010 and May 2011 for each film.

  1. Harry is a lucky idiot
"Oh, this necklace has a piece of the soul of the Wizard Hitler in it, I *could* put it in the bag of holding with everything else I have, but I’ll wear it right over my heart instead."

Hey, that seemed to work for Frodo. For a while, anyhow.

He didn’t have a magic non-dimensional bag to keep it in ;-)

And I don’t think the similarity is a coincidence.

It’s not like either evil magical beings, or powerful magical talismans, were original to Tolkien.

  2. So, they’re going to be about wildlife?
Movie one: How to survive a school year in a forest?
Movie two: Oh yeah and there was a bad guy somewhere in this story as well.

You might be able to guess I was incredibly disappointed by Deathly Hallows.

It feels like JKR lost her editor after book 3 and Hallows should have been edited and cut down to about half of what was actually published, but no one had the guts to do it.

I remember saying "oh well at least the movie will be short" after I finished the book.

    I guess I was wrong :-)

That’s pretty much what I came here to say.
