‘Caprica’ gets the Green Light/’Bionic Woman’ not so lucky

Sci-Fi Channel has given the go-ahead to produce a 2-hour “backdoor” pilot for Caprica. The show will take place about 50 years before the Cylon attack on Caprica and will follow two families (the Greystones and the Adamas). More info from Sci-Fi Channel.

BSG co-creator David Eick may take that as some solace, as his other project, Bionic Woman, was not renewed by NBC. No real surprise since the network did not order new episodes following the Writer’s Strike and its low ratings.

Just stop threatening to split the last season in two, you dirty show-stretching execs!

The way they’re destroying BSG with The Final Stretch, I’m not too excited about Caprica. I guess I’ll follow it on DVD’s when/if they come out, at least then I’ll get to watch the whole story without having to wait 2.5 years between episodes.

      Sigh

I agree. Enough with prequels. We already will know soon?? how Caprica ultimately ends.

Might as well. With an attitude like that, you and thousands of other condemn the good shows along with the bad to DVD oblivion.

Yes I know more people would watch if the shows were better. But the reverse is also true, we’d have more good shows if people actively supported them. Instead they die because people would rather just wait. So we get the Firefly experience, instead of the Farscape one.

Not fair to blame viewers for the short comings of the networks. The networks screwed Firefly, not the viewers who chose not to watch it because it didn’t make any sense when watched out of order!

If the networks think a show is good and decide to back it, then they should back it for at least two seasons. If they don’t think it is worth backing for at least that long, then it should never get green lighted in the first place.

I won’t watch a sci-fi show on Fox the first season. I may not even watch one on Fox after the first season.

The writers’ strike didn’t leave them much choice about that in the end.

I would hope that they had already written the episodes well before the writers strike!

    • Re: greystones?

      so who are the greystones?

Hopefully nobody directly related to the BSG plot. There’s no reason to tie the current batch of characters closely together in the past. The results inevitably land on a scale of implausible convenience and coincidence that has Star Trek: Enterprise and Muppet Babies at each end.

I’ll leave to the reader the exercise of determining which end of that scale is which…
