Carol Barbee, executive producer of CBS’ canceled post-apocalyptic series Jericho, told SCI FI Wire that talks are ongoing to find the show another home, perhaps on a cable network. … Barbee wouldn’t offer details about any talks. "There were several ideas that have been floated, and there was some interest, but we’ll have to see," she said. "It wasn’t something that could be sewn up before we were going to air the finale. … It would have been better had we been able to announce one with the other, but it just didn’t happen that fast."
The postscript on the article is my favorite part…
(Fans wishing to write SCI FI Channel about picking Jericho up should NOT use the [email protected] e-mail address, but rather should send snail mail here: SCI FI Channel, 21st Floor, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112.)
Re: FYI: It’s being shopped arround If SciFi picks up Jericho, they’ll have won back a few more points I deducted from them after what they did to Farscape. No, BSG hasn’t yet made up for that. *bitter*
"Shopping Around" ;) I just read on Sci-Fi Storm:
"It seems the producers aren’t willing to give up on Jericho just yet. According to exec producer Carol Barbee, they are seeking a network, even on cable."
the problem with jerhico is that it was barely post-apocalyptic in its execution.
Re: the problem with jerhico
is that it was barely post-apocalyptic in its execution.
What I find interesting about it is that it’s a different sort of "post-apocalyptic". Not a 80’s style end-of-the-world post-full-nuclear-exchange, but a "what the hell happened" limited but highly disruptive attack. A very post-9/11 sensibility.
Hope it gets picked up somewhere.
Re: the problem with jerhico I certainly enjoy it.. and I would love to see it picked up by someone myself.
Even if you can see mountains from Kansas.. LOL
Seriously, though, I have enjoyed their trials and tribulations and would like to see more….

So disappointed… But with them trying to find a new home, there is hope!
I have no idea why they couldn’t keep this show on the air. Its really an awesome show with well developed and human characters. I guess the average television watcher these days isn’t interested in anything other than (un)reality show crap.
Got my fingers crossed, Sci-Fi! Get on the ball and grab Jericho up, and replace that ridiculous "rasslin" with it. Whats up with wrestling on the sci-fi channel anyway?

It got great ratings by many standards, just not by those of one of the big 4, and sadly, they can still charge more for ads on a reality show.

More ratings games. ECW’s actually one of their highest-rated shows. Some weeks, I believe, it actually IS their highest-rated show. Though I agree that it’s a piss-poor fit for the channel…
figures…
I’ve just gotten in to this show with the SciFi channel’s showing from the beginning. Feh.
FYI: It’s being shopped arround
