The April lull is upon us. There are a couple of worthwhile titles here, particularly those nominated for Oscars recently, but not much else.
First, the DVD releases:
- The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (20th Anniversary Edition)
- Alien Agent: An unknown movie with a known cast. There seems to be a lot of those this week.
- All About Eve (Two Disc Special Edition)
- Bette Davis Centenary Celebration Collection: Includes “All About Eve,” “Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte,” “The Virgin Queen,” “Phone Call From A Stranger” and “The Nanny.”
- Classic Musicals from the Dream Factory, Vol. 3: Includes “Hit The Deck,” “Deep In My Heart,” “Kismet,” “Nancy Goes To Rio,” “Two Weeks With Love,” “Broadway Melody of 1936,” “Broadway Melody of 1938,” “Born To Dance” and “Lady Be Good.”
- The Cosby Show: Season 7
- The Cosby Show: Season 8
- Cruel World: A horror based on reality TV. Recognizable cast, but I’ve never heard of the flick.
- Day of the Dead
- Houdini: The Movie Star: Kino does great work with this type of thing.
- Lions for Lambs
- Matlock – The First Season: I really enjoyed this back in elementary school. I’m almost afraid to watch it now, in case it doesn’t hold up over time.
- Partition: Once again, the cast is recognizable.
- Perry Mason (50th Anniversary Edition)
- Phone Call From A Stranger
- Reservation Road
- Resurrecting the Champ
- Silver Man: I’ve never heard of the movie, but I’ve definitely heard of the cast.
- The Super Robot Red Baron – The Complete Series
- There Will Be Blood
- There Will Be Blood (Two Disc Special Collector’s Edition): I know I’ve heard about this recently. Where was that? Let’s see.. oh, yes, I remember now. It was nominated for virtually every Oscar they gave out this year, and took many of them home.
- Walk Hard – The Dewey Cox Story
- Walk Hard – The Dewey Cox Story (Two-Disc Special Edition)
- The Water Horse – Legend of the Deep (Two Disc Special Edition)
- The World According to Shorts
Now, the Blu-Ray releases:
- The 6th Day
- The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
- Walk Hard – The Dewey Cox Story
- The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
Some of the last HD DVD releases are as follows:
Finally, the pick of the week. We’ve hit the annual April lull. Pickings are a bit slim; you’ve got Munchausen (which I haven’t seen) and this year’s Oscar winners (which I also haven’t seen.) I’m thinking I need to see more movies if I’m going to keep restricting things to movies I’ve seen here.
Munchausen
I think you will like The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. I enjoyed it immensely, and it’s definitely genre.
