I’m not sure he could have found two points on the Star Trek timeline I’m *less* interested in revisiting than those two.

The early days of the TOS crew have already been covered in various books over the years, and the less said about Nemisis, the better.

two points on the Star Trek timeline…

You’re gonna be AMAZED at what JJ has Sisko do behind the scenes to repair and save those two pivotal points in the ST timeline…

If this movie pays off to all the hype surrounding it, I would kill for a DS9 movie to follow it.

Best Star Trek series there was.

Speaking of DS9, I was impressed with the guest appearance by Nana Visitor on Galactica this week.

I was trying to decide if as she appeared Baltar saying stuff about ‘the Undiscovered Country’ was a toss off line to ST or something. Though that had nothing to do with DS9.

the less said about Nemesis, the better.

I am still to this day completely STUMPED as to what the problem is supposed to be with Nemesis? Have you even seen it or did you just jump right on the bash-nemesis train? Seriously, I’ve yet to see any actual valid criticism, just bash bash bash.

Well, for starters, the Nemesis premise is so flat that the movie focuses on character development of BOTH a clone Picard and yet another Data twin to have something worthwhile to do…like, perhaps delve further into the personalities of the two ORIGINALS we are supposed to CARE about? Next we have the derivative and weak direct steal of the Star Wars Death Star planetary superweapon / hand to hand combat of Obi-Wan and Vader final act that is just plain uninspiring. Finally, we have a ramming and hero literally jumping overboard to effect the final denoument, like this is some sort of Eryl Flynn pirate shashbuckler set in the 1650s….

Aurgh. I gotta quit beore I pop a vein. A dismal little movie, totally unworthy of the grandeur that is supposed to be Star Trek.

Here. Read the Nemesis review I wrote five and a half years ago.

And my follow-on comment to my review I added at that time, December 2002:

I didn’t even go into the REAL similarities Nemesis has with Star Wars because I didn’t want to spoil what is (I think) supposed to be the movie’s biggest "surprises" – but they went two-for-one rip-off with the clone / father-son angle between Picard and Shinzon, and Data’s final mission was just too much Obi-Wan "where I’m going you cannot follow" to shut off the bad guy’s power system. This couldn’t have been more Star-Wars like if they had tried – and there’s no doubt in my mind they DID VERY DELIBERATELY try. And for someone who wanted a Star Trek movie, that’s a true shame. As in shame on them.
