  1. Guess I’ll say something.
It was a good episode, plenty of stuff happening. Hurrah for Desmond and Penny

I think it is interesting how they have set up the next season to probably have the same dual naratives as before. I mean, initially each episode had the island plot and pre-crash plot, so we get the trademarked flipping between them. Then, this past season, we get the "flash forward" plots with some people off the island and the island plots (or the off the island, with flashes back to being on the island, whichever way you want to think about it). For next season they seem to have setup the "getting back to the island" timeline and the "what shitty things went wrong on the island and how did Bentham get off the island" timeline. So they are staying true to the dual narative form.

I just watched it last night, and I liked it. Ditto on the Desmond and Penny story. I’m glad they got their happy ending, since I seem to remember hearing that the Desmond character is not intended to return in this story.

For the dual-narrative story, they’ve done past-off-island + present-on-island, then future-off-island + present-on-island. Now they’re going for present-off-island + present-on-island. They also had some sprinklings of past-on-island in all that somewhere. I wonder if they’re going to throw some future-on-island in the mix?

Given the threat Ben issued Widmore in The Shape of Things to Come, how could Desmond NOT be involved in the rest of the story?

As for the final episode itself, I didn’t love it. The sort-of-telling-you-what’s-going-to-happen-before-it-happens plot device worked pretty well last season with Charlie, but this time around it meant that there were very few surprises in the last 2 hours. The ‘conclusion’ to Michael’s story was also a complete shambles – here’s hoping they backtrack and try to produce something worthy of bringing him back for.

I didn’t really see it as a shambles. People keep making unusual appearances and since Michael is one of the good guys, which was determined by the "others" in the beginning, I believe, I bet that Michael was not "killed" in the explosion. I’m not sure where he’d end up, but it goes against everything that he is actually dead.
          That’s my thoughts anyway…
