Weekly Comics Discussion – July 9, 2008

The complete list can be found here. There are tie-in issues to virtually every event on the market from the two majors this week.

DC Comics

  • ACTION COMICS #867 – I picked up issue 866 because of the “Sightings” banner and loved it. Highly recommended.
  • CHUCK #2 (OF 6)
  • DETECTIVE COMICS #846 – Part of “Batman RIP”
  • FINAL CRISIS REQUIEM #1 – The funeral for the hero who died on-panel in “Final Crisis #1.” I do plan to review all of Final Crisis and its tie-ins, but first I’ve got to figure out what the heck’s going on.
  • JOKERS ASYLUM THE PENGUIN #1
  • JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #17
  • NEW YORK FOUR
  • TRINITY – Also enjoyable. I can review this in chunks if people are interested. Just speak up.
  • WONDER WOMAN #22

Dynamite Entertainment

  • BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ORIGINS #7

Marvel Comics

  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #565
  • CAPTAIN AMERICA WHITE #0 – Loeb and Sale are back, together again.
  • CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI 13 #3 – This Secret Invasion tie-in will likely be reviewed Thursday, if all goes as planned.
  • CRIMINAL TP VOL 03 DEAD AND DYING – Not sci-fi or fantasy, and definitely not family entertainment, but still excellent.
  • GUARDIANS OF GALAXY #3
  • INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #3 – This has been very good so far.
  • IRON MAN LEGACY OF DOOM #4 (OF 4)
  • LAST DEFENDERS #5 (OF 6)
  • NOVA #15
  • SECRET INVASION #4 – This review should come Wednesday night, as long as I get to my LCS before it closes.
  • ULTIMATE ORIGINS #2 (OF 5) – I’ll probably review the five issue series when it’s done.
  • YOUNG X-MEN #4 – Part of the Divided We Stand crossover
