Not only does the trilogy span centuries with a revolving cast, but much of the series doesn’t really lend itself to action, romance, or suspense. I see the Foundation trilogy as more of a thinking person’s sci-fi, and I’m not sure how they would adapt it without completely losing touch with the books.

You’ve got a good point, but I think it’d work well as a long mini-series, or a radio play.

It’s hard to find legally and it’s on audio cassette, but the BBC made one.

It’s that an actual adaptation or an audiobook?

I believe it was a radio dramatization with a full cast. That was my first exposure to the Foundation trilogy. It was extremely well done, as with all BBC dramatizations.

As the other poster said, it’s a full radio play. There’s a really bad transfer out there on the torrent sites, but it’s worth tracking down the cassettes.

Yup, I think each segment would work as a separate movie, and are about the right length so they wouldn’t have to cut things out to make it fit. Still, they’re not exactly action movies, so won’t ever be blockbusters…
