Toonami Ends Tonight

According to Animenewsnetwork.com, tonight is the last night Toonami airs on
Cartoon Network.

Over the 11 years the Cartoon Network ran its Toonami
block, it ran many genre anime, including the original
Mobile Suit Gundam, Blue Submarine No. 6, Voltron,
Robotech, Outlaw Star, Ronin Warriors, Naruto, Tenchi
Muyo!, The Big O, and .Hack//Sign. According to
Cartoon Network’s schedule, the block will be filled
in the next few weeks with Spider-Man
on September 27th and Batman:
Gotham Knight on October 4th.

  1. Good riddance to poorly animated unintelligable rubbish.
    For every twenty minutes of screen time at least fifteen of it seemed to be a character closeup with a few animated lines whizing across it suggesting something was actually going on. Accompanied of course by ‘AAAAAARGGGH’ as they fought somebody. Boring twaddle. What plot there was was minimal and frankly irrelevant.

    I trust the lack of Toonami will mark the return to the real world of thousands of adolescent males for whom this strangely seemed to represent worthwhile entertainment.

      Out of curiosity, did you actually watch any of the shows listed up there — or some of the others such as 08th MS Team, Gundam 0080, or Rurouni Kenshin, or the movies they’ve shown, such as Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, and Princess Mononoke — or is this just a generic "I’m vaguely familiar with Dragon Ball Z and thus must bash all anime" comment?

      Granted, their recent lineup has been pretty weak. I won’t miss any of the current shows, but in the past, a lot of good stuff has aired in the Toonami block. I’d be interested in knowing what modern cartoons you consider suitable for this particular time slot and audience and don’t have plots that are "minimal and frankly irrelevant."

        Out of curiosity, did you actually watch any of the shows listed up there Only until my brains started to dribble out of my ears in protest at the asinine rubbish to which I was subjecting it. Then I went and did something wholly more intellectually satisfying. Like I said, it’s loss is no great loss in the overall scheme of things.

          Do you recall which shows you watched, or did you just watch Dragon Ball Z?
