Supernatural Discussion – “Monster Movie”

Tonight’s episode appears to be a black and white episode, written by Ben Edlund, which is about a shapeshifter who loves the 1930s horror movies. Man, I’ve got to get caught up on this show; how can this not be an incredibly fun episode?

  1. It was fun…
The episode wasn’t just in black and white, it was done full-on in old monster-movie style. The credits, the transitions, the special effects, the conversations in the car, the lighting, was all classic.

I especially loved one of the confrontations with "Dracula", complete with light-from-nowhere-that-only-shines-on-his-eyes action.

Supernatural hasn’t been on my radar at all. Is it always this much fun? This was a great tribute to the old monster movies, with more self-referential horror-movie humor than we’ve seen since Buffy went off the air.

At times, it is a bit more serious, but it always finds a way to have some fun, too. Especially the episode with the "lucky rabbit’s foot", the time loop was also pretty good, and of course, "Ghostfacers".
