Smallville Discussion – “Committed”

The PVR is still glitchy in a manner that suggests a dead hard drive. I’ve got one more convenient broadcast to try tomorrow night, but I can’t guarantee I’ll have a chance to review it if it does work, so this is going up instead.

The comments down here are to hold space. If I do get a chance to review it this weekend, the review will go here.

  1. Not really a comment on the episode itself…
…but I was somewhat disappointed to notice that the villain’s identity was revealed in the episode description. Or at least the description for it on my TV service.

It was given away in my guide data as well (TiVo, which gets it from Tribune I think)

  2. Fiziko’s Comments
I don’t have enough time for a full review, and I can’t fairly judge the production since the DVR glitch forced me into a pan and scan viewing anyway, but here are my general comments.

    The good:
    1) The final elevator conversation.
    2) The awkward attempts to split up.
    3) The inevitable conversation(s) with Oliver in a future episode.

    The bad:
    1) Wasn’t the criminal in two places at once?
    2) Why wouldn’t he wear his custom watch on the job? Especially THAT job?
    3) What’s with the colour gradiant leaving the jewelry store? I know they filter each local in particular, but that one was just a painfully obvious transition from one to the other. They needed to find a way to cut during that conversation. It would have been less cumbersome.

  3. Better Feel
The new creative team seems to have injected some life back into the show for me. While I still enjoyed watching Smallville, the past couple of seasons I’ve just been waiting for the show to die. This season almost feels like a different show not quiet new but definitely not the old Smallville.

Depending on how the season finishes, I could almost want another season or two of this show.
