The “New Release” racks are going to be bulging this week.
First, the DVD releases:
- According to Jim: The Complete First Season
- Anaconda 3: Offspring: The list will get better, I promise!
- Ben 10: Alien Force: Season One, Vol. 1
- Blood+: Volume Three
- Bride of the Monster: One of many classic horrors released in colorized and black and white restored versions this week.
- Casino Royale (40th Anniversary Edition): Much like “You Only Live Twice,” this isn’t an “official” Bond movie in the sense of being included in the counts. This is the comedy with multiple Bonds.
- Casino Royale (Three-Disc Special Edition): The 21st movie made, which reboots the series to Bond’s first mission.
- Comedy Central Salutes George W. Bush
- Creature from the Haunted Sea: One of many classic horrors released in colorized and black and white restored versions this week.
- Devil Bat: One of many classic horrors released in colorized and black and white restored versions this week.
- Die Another Day: James Bond movie #20, single disc edition
- Die Another Day: James Bond movie #20, two disc edition
- Dr. No: James Bond movie #1
- Dynasty: Season Three, Vol. Two
- Eclipse Series 13: Kenji Mizoguchi’s Fallen Women: Released through Criterion, this includes “Osaka Elegy,” “Sisters of the Gion,” “Women of the Night” and “Street of Shame.”
- Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed
- Family Guy, Vol. 6
- Family Guy: Freakin’ Sweet Party Pack
- Family Guy – The Complete Collection: Stewie Head Collection: This is an “Amazon.com exclusive.” I don’t know if that refers to the entire collection, or just the packaging.
- Flight of the Red Balloon
- For Your Eyes Only: James Bond movie #12
- Frightfully Funny Collection Vol. 2
- From Russia with Love: James Bond movie #2
- Ghostbusters 1 and 2
- Hot Moves
- The Incredible Hulk – The Complete Fifth Season: The last season of the Bill Bixby series.
- The Incredible Hulk: The Complete Series: The Bill Bixby show.
- Incredible Hulk: The Ed Norton movie on one disc.
- The Incredible Hulk (Three-Disc Special Edition): The Ed Norton movie.
- Knight Rider: The Complete Series: This is the David Hasselhoff series. The new series didn’t make it to DVD quite that fast.
- LA Ink: Season 1, Volume 2
- The Last Man On Earth: One of many classic horrors released in colorized and black and white restored versions this week.
- Linewatch
- Live and Let Die: James Bond movie #8
- The Living Daylights: James Bond movie #15
- Lone Wolf and Cub, Volume 4, Eps. 14-18
- Looney Tunes: Golden Collection, Vol. 6: These have all been great so far. This is the last “Golden Collection.” After this, they’re going to a different release model, prioritizing cartoons not yet collected.
- Looney Tunes: Spotlight Collection, Vol. 6
- Macross: Complete Collection: “Robotech” was originally created by taking three entirely unrelated series and editing them together so they could hit the episode count needed for daily syndication. “Macross” provided the first 36 episodes.
- The Man From U.N.C.L.E. – The Complete Series: This just won a TV on DVD award for the best release from its era of television.
- Missing – Criterion Collection: Starring Sissy Spacek, Jack Lemmon and John Shea.
- Octopussy: James Bond movie #13
- Phantom from Space: One of many classic horrors released in colorized and black and white restored versions this week.
- Phantom Planet: One of many classic horrors released in colorized and black and white restored versions this week.
- Route 66 – The Complete Second Season
- Santa Claus: The Movie: Why can’t the Christmas releases at least wait until after Halloween?
- Sold Out: A Threevening With Kevin Smith: The first two were very entertaining.
- Sony 70’s TV Bundle: I have no specific idea what’s in this 59 disc set from Sony. I’ve sent an e-mail to the kind folks over at TV Shows On DVD to see if they know. (Based on past experience, if an answer is to be found, they’ll have one for us very quickly.)
- Southern Cross / Genesis Climber Mospeada Double Pack: “Robotech” was also created from these. The New Generation episodes were originally “Southern Cross,” and “Mospeada” became the Invid saga.
- The Story of Saiunkoku: Starter Set (with Vol. 1)
- The Story of Saiunkoku, Vol. 1
- The Story of Saiunkoku, Vol. 2
- The Story of Saiunkoku, Vol. 3 with Ender Box
- The Strangers
- Sunday School Musical: I don’t know if this is officially connected to “High School Musical” or not. I doubt it, coming from “Arts Alliance America” for the studio, while the others were Disney. Disney also has a history of using a brand, so I doubt they’d release a related product and change “High” to “Sunday.”
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season 2, Part 2
- Thunderball: James Bond movie #4
- Warner Gangsters Collection, Vol. 4: The first three sets were very enjoyable. This includes “The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse,” “Invisible Stripes,” “Kid Galahad,” “Larceny, Inc.,” “The Little Giant” and “Public Enemies: The Golden Age of the Gangster Film.”
Now, the Blu-Ray releases:
- James Bond Blu-Ray Collection Three-Pack, Vol. 1: Includes “Dr. No,” “Die Another Day” and “Live and Let Die.”
- James Bond Blu-Ray Collection Three-Pack, Vol. 2: Includes “For Your Eyes Only,” “From Russia With Love” and “Thunderball.”
- James Bond Blu-Ray Collection Six-Pack: Includes both of the three packs.
- The Breed
- Casino Royale: 2 Disc Collector’s Edition of the twenty first James Bond movie made, though it’s a “reboot” of sorts, as his first mission. Next month’s “Quantum of Solace” is a more traditional sequel to this movie.
- Diary of the Dead
- Die Another Day: James Bond movie #20
- Dr. No: James Bond movie #1
- Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed
- For Your Eyes Only: James Bond movie #12
- From Russia With Love: James Bond movie #2
- Funny Games: The director’s shot-for-shot remake of his European original.
- Halloween
- Incredible Hulk
- Live and Let Die: James Bond movie #8
- The Strangers
- Sweeney Todd
- Thunderball: James Bond movie #4
Finally, the pick of the week. Am I allowed to pick more than one? With the new Incredible Hulk movie, the latest volumes of Looney Tunes Golden Collection and Warner Gangsters Collection and all the James Bond product (including a new edition of the recent Casino Royale) it’s really hard to narrow down. This is a great week for product, and a crappy week for monthly budgets.
That was fast!
You mean I don’t have to look this all up on Amazon and wait till Monday to make comments? (:
Re: That was fast!
Not when I leave work early on Friday because I’m working a long day Saturday. Next week’s will probably hit on Friday, too.
Anaconda THREE?!?
Wasn’t the first one bad enough?

Re: Anaconda THREE?!?
The first was amusing from the POV that my wife and I guessed every single death in turn, so we were laughing pretty hard by the end.
Yeah, and "Meatballs" had multiple sequels.
The Strangers, out this week, was, of course, last week’s Halloween review.
Route 66 delayed
The "Route 66" release that was listed for October 21 when I wrote this on Friday has since been postponed to November 4.
Re: Route 66 delayed
I imagine the third season will be next. It features a conceptually interesting, if not brilliantly-executed, Halloween episode with Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Jr., and Peter Lorre.
