If you can’t guess this week’s pick of the week, you just haven’t been paying attention.
First, the DVD releases:
- Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Volume 2
- All Star Christmas Show: This looks like a TV special from the early days of the medium, based on the stars that are in it. Seems to be a good stocking stuffer for parents and grandparents.

- Christmas Classics Collection: An assortment of four cartoons I’ve never heard of.
- Christmas Town
- Code Geass Leouch of the Rebellion, Season 1 Volume 2: I’m guessing one of the part 2s is actually part 1.
- Code Geass Leouch of the Rebellion, Season 1 Volume 2: I’m guessing one of the part 2s is actually part 1.

Finally, the pick of the week. Dark Knight is the pick of the month. This is a complete no brainer. Preliminary Oscar buzz has included Heath Ledger’s Joker for months, but there’s talk now about Best Picture and Best Director as well. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to.
Dark Knight
Also worth noting is that The Dark Knight is still regularly placing in the top 20 grossing movies on weekends.
I wonder how the DVD release will impact that.
Re: Dark Knight
It’s also being pulled out of theaters, to be rereleased on the big screen the day after the Oscar nominations come out. This has a serious shot at breaking Titanic‘s domestic record, and I really hope it does.
About Gunbuster vs. Diebuster…
Gunbuster vs. Diebuster is actually a double-feature of the two Gunbuster films, which are adaptations of, respectively, the OVAs Gunbuster, and Gunbuster 2.
