Weekly Comics Discussion – December 17, 2008

Next up: a review of “Mighty Avengers 17-19.” If possible, I’ll review “Buffy #16-19” as well before issue 20 hits tomorrow.

Dark Horse Comics

  • BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #20 – A one shot, available in two covers. The one shots are not consistently collected in TPB format, so if that’s how you collect, you might want to think about grabbing this as is. This one’s about Harmony.
  • CONAN THE CIMMERIAN
  • STAR WARS LEGACY TP VOL 04 ALLIANCE

DC Comics

  • BATGIRL (OF 6)
  • BIRDS OF PREY #125
  • DCU HOLIDAY SPECIAL 2008
  • SHOWCASE PRESENTS BRAVE & BOLD BATMAN TEAMUPS VOL 03
  • SUPERGIRL #36 – A New Krypton issue.
  • TANGENT SUPERMANS REIGN #10 (OF 12)
  • TRINITY #29
  • X-FILES #2 (OF 6)

IDW Comics

  • ANGEL AFTER THE FALL #15
  • GHOSTBUSTERS THE OTHER SIDE #3

Image Comics

  • WALKING DEAD #56
  • WITCHBLADE COMPENDIUM VOL 01 LTD ED HC

Marvel Comics

  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #581
  • AVENGERS INITIATIVE #19 – The last of the “Secret Invasion” proper crossovers, though there’s plenty of “Dark Reign” still to come.
  • DARK REIGN NEW NATION – Dark Reign, obviously
  • DEADPOOL #5
  • GHOST RIDER #30
  • INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #8 – Dark Reign
  • MIGHTY AVENGERS #20 – Dark Reign
  • SECRET WARS OMNIBUS HC
  • SPIDER-MAN NOIR #1 (OF 4) – The X-Men Noir title from a couple of weeks back was quite enjoyable.
  • SQUADRON SUPREME 2
  • THOR GOD SIZED #1
  • THUNDERBOLTS #127 – This title just got way more important for the Marvel Universe. It’s been consistently enjoyable since the roster changed as a result of Civil War.
  • ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR #59 – An Ultimatum tie-in, and the second last of the series.
  • UNCANNY X-MEN #505
  • WHAT IF NEWER FANTASTIC FOUR
  • WOLVERINE ORIGINS TP VOL 05 DEADPOOL
  • X-MEN KINGBREAKER #1 (OF 4) – Expect this to lead in to March’s “War of Kings.”

  1. Star Wars TPB

STAR WARS LEGACY TP VOL 04 ALLIANCE

If you’ve been a reliable reader of the Weekly Comics Discussion, then you won’t need to purchase the TPB because you’ll already own the issues that it’s reprinting.

    Star Wars! More Star Wars!
