Buffy Season 2 DVD has a release date

Once again, Amazon is listing DVDs before their
release is officially announced. Look for the
second season of Buffy The Vampire
Slayer
to hit DVD on June 11.

  1. Strange…
How come the UK has gotten all the DVD’s ahead of the US for a change?

I’ve just pre-ordered Season 4 of Buffy and Season 2 of Angel and should have them some time around April. By the sounds of things the US won’t get to see them till December!

    Just curious.

This is common when you are dealing with releases of a
television series on VHS, DVD, or Laserdisc. North
America has a much larger syndication market for these
shows than there is overseas, so they delay the
purchase dates to make money selling syndication
rights to other networks. (In this part of Canada, I
can watch Buffy on four different stations. Can you
say the same about your part of the UK?)

Ahh… that makes sense then. Though I’d have thought there would be more comments about getting it on import – most people I know in the UK survive off of US imported films that aren’t out here yet. I’m just surprised it doesnt APPEAR to be the same the other way around.

Most of us can live with the syndication,
because it’s so common. Imports happen, but not much,
as it’s usually expensive. (For example, the last
time I checked, the first season of Buffy sold in the
UK for about 40 pound, while I bought it for $36
Canadian locally. 1 pound is about $2.20 Canadian.)
I should also note that multi-region players aren’t
particularly common, so most customers in North
America wouldn’t be able to play the disks sold in the
          UK.
