Fringe Discussion: The No-Brainer

Who out there still follows this show? Has it improved? Should the rest of us start watching again? We’re open for discussion.

  1. that was on?
I don’t know what they sandwiched it in, but I’ve lost the show in the new grid.

I’d watch it if I knew when it was on. It’s like X Files, but the guy is the skeptic… Definitely watchable.

It’s on Tuesdays at 9 Eastern after "American Idol". They must be hoping the AI crowd will stay over for it.

And it is definitely got the potential of the first season or two of "X-Files". However, they definitely need to get away from Walter as the center of all of the science.

So that’s why I’m not even close to that channel when it’s on!
Stupid reality TV, scaring me away from the sci-fi! I blame Fox.

  2. The show
    – Good thing: Anna Torv is little less stiff lately

    – Bad thing: the writing. They should be ashamed. I know I must have suspension of disbelief turned to the max when I’m watching this kind of show, but when in the last week episode I saw a *VIRUS* that weights over a kilogram (I’m from Europe, sorry for the metric system ;) ), it was little too much. It’s a fraking virus! The thing that isn’t completely alive by definition! It can’t grow. It can’t reproduce by itself, it needs to go into the actual cell and reprogram it to make more similar viruses. What size that cell should be, like – a house?

That "virus" was just a plot device and not such important, but it really made me feel stupid for watching the show. Knowing simple thing about viruses is what? Elementary school knowledge?

    • It’s a Star Trek crossover

It’s from the same place as the amoeba from The Immunity Syndrome.

  3. Two words…
Two words came to mind while watching this episode: Snow Crash

Sure, not exactly the same idea (especially the targets) but I still thought it was an interesting idea here, as I did in the book.

Also: Is it weird that I found myself nitpicking the fried hard drive more than the liquefied brains??

      Yup.

But I’m right there with ya’… Along with the "a speck of dust can spoil these" as she handles a drive with the outer casing cut in half and the platters exposed to the light of day.

I guess if Virus’ are the size of footballs now, the dust cant get into a drive only 3.5 inches wide… :/

  4. The internet is full of things
There are two examples that spring to mind when I want to demonstrate just how incredible the internet is.

The best lightsaber battle I’ve ever seen. 10 minutes of pure awesome.

And not one but two versions of Pachelbel’s Canon in D, on traditional Korean instruments, accompanied by a by a human beatbox and a hip-hop DJ in a tie, while somebody breakdances.

(Yes, these and all these other links are the Future. I somehow doubt anyone in the 80s would have predicted this…)

OMG!!! I’m so glad you did. That lightsaber duel is AWESOME.
