Weekly Comics Discussion – February 4, 2009

The Incognito reprint I mentioned last week has been postponed until next week with the release of issue 2, so you’ve got another week to make sure you get your copy. The complete list of this week’s releases is available here.

Dark Horse Comics

  • BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #22
  • INDIANA JONES FURTHER ADV OMNIBUS TP VOL 01
  • KULL #4 (OF 6)
  • MYSPACE DARK HORSE PRESENTS TP VOL 02 – This may or may not be the volume that has Captain Hammer’s first comic book appearance. I know it happened on the Dark Horse MySpace page, but I don’t know what exactly is in these collections.

DC Comics

  • ADVENTURE COMICS #0 – Origins and Omens
  • BLACK LIGHTNING YEAR ONE #3 (OF 6)
  • FINAL CRISIS LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #3 (OF 5)
  • SANDMAN DREAM HUNTERS #4 (OF 4)
  • SECRET SIX – Origins and Omens
  • TANGENT SUPERMANS REIGN TP VOL 01
  • TRINITY #36

Marvel Comics

  • AGENTS OF ATLAS #1 – Dark Reign
  • AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #585 – Also available, the fourth printing of the Obama issue. If you miss it, don’t worry; they’ve already announced that there will be a fifth.
  • AVENGERS NIGHTS OF WUNDAGORE – A trade paperback collecting issues 181-187 of the original series, probably released to tie in with the current Mighty Avengers storyline.
  • BLACK PANTHER 2 #1 – Dark Reign. A new, female Black Panther. Reginald Hudlin is still writing.
  • DEADPOOL #7 – Dark Reign
  • INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #10 – Dark Reign
  • MARVEL YOUR UNIVERSE #1 – Collecting key reprint issues from recent months.
  • MIGHTY AVENGERS #21 – A corrected copy to the issue that went out. I’m betting it’ll chance the scene that introduces Jarvis, but we’ll see.
  • PUNISHER #2 – Dark Reign
  • SECRET WARRIORS #1 – Dark Reign, and the title I’m anticipating most this week.
  • ULTIMATE WOLVERINE VS HULK NEW PTG #1 – A new printing, as the series FINALLY comes to an end. I enjoyed this when it first came out, back in late 2005. Issue 2 hit in early 2006, and issue 3 is yet to come. Lindelof has now turned in all six scripts and Leinil Yu has worked far enough ahead that they’re confident in their ability to finish the series on a monthly schedule this time.
  • WAR OF KINGS DARKHAWK #1 – A two issue series, which I expect to set up Darkhawk’s role in the War of Kings, likely with hopes of spinning him off into a new series as was done successfully with Nova in Annihilation.
  • X-MEN NOIR #3 (OF 4)
