Rorschach’s Changing Mask

chad writes, Here’s a video explaining how they created Rorschach’s ever-changing mask for the Watchmen movie. I’ve read Watchmen several times and never noticed that his mask changed—until I saw one of the trailers. Then I went back to the comic to verify that it does indeed change.

  1. You’ve answered a concern I had
I was wondering if the mask was going to be done well.
The first thing I asked my friend when he recommended that I read a comix with a character with a Rorschach mask was "does his ink pattern change?"
He thought it didn’t, but there’s even a bit in there where he explains HOW his mask changes its pattern… you people and your disinterest for the machinations of masks! Pff ;-)

Now, the big question: Do I want to read that article, or am I already too spoiled?

The article doesn’t have any spoilers–it focuses on the mechanics of how the mask changes, with a few short very short clips from the movie.

For those who have already read the comic.
If anyone wants to go in the movie without knowing things they shouldn’t already know, it’s kinda spoilery.

So basically it’s CGI with motion capture. Looks good, I’m happy.
