Weekly Comics Discussion – March 4, 2009

The complete list is available here.

Dark Horse Comics

  • BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #23

DC Comics

  • BATMAN CACOPHONY #3 (OF 3) – Wrapping up the Kevin Smith / Walt Flanagan series.
  • BLACK LIGHTNING YEAR ONE #5 (OF 6)
  • SOLOMON GRUNDY #1 (OF 7)
  • SUPERMAN BRAINIAC HC – This was an interesting arc.
  • SUPERMAN WORLD OF NEW KRYPTON #1 (OF 12)
  • TRINITY #40

IDW Comics

  • CLASSIC GI JOE TP VOL 02 – Reprinting the same issues in the out of print Marvel edition. IDW now owns reprint rights to the issues Marvel made.

Marvel Comics

  • AGENTS OF ATLAS #2 – Dark Reign. Issue 1 was decent.
  • BLACK PANTHER 2 #2 – Dark Reign. Based on issue 1, I’m dropping the title again when the crossover is done.
  • DAREDEVIL #116 – Kingpin returns to one of Marvel’s most consistently strong titles.
  • DARK REIGN FANTASTIC FOUR #1 (OF 5) – Written by Jonathan Hickman, who will replace Millar as writer on the main title when the time comes.
  • DEADPOOL #8 – Dark Reign, and a Thunderbolts tie-in.
  • FANTASTIC FOUR TP WORLDS GREATEST – The first Millar/Hitch collection. So far, I’m not impressed by their run. I respect the goals, but find the execution wanting.
  • MARVEL YOUR UNIVERSE #2 – This series collects key issues from recent history. It’s worth picking up if you’re not getting much and want to keep a bead on the general direction of the Universe.
  • NEW AVENGERS REUNION #1 (OF 4) – Dark Reign
  • SECRET WARRIORS #2 – The other Jonathan Hickman title. Issue one ended on one of the year’s best “Holy crap!” pages.
  • ULTIMATE WOLVERINE VS HULK #3 (OF 6) – This issue FINALLY hits stands.
  • WAR OF KINGS #1 (OF 6) – The next event to get the full review treatment. Man, do I need to catch up on Final Crisis reviews…
