Knight Rider: The Movie.

David Hasslehoff and the talking car with the weird blinkenlights are reportedly gonna get their own movie. I haven’t decided if this is a good thing or not, but I’m leaning towards “not”. Anybody remember “Knight Rider 2000”? Yeah, thought so.

  1. Knight Rider 2000
I remember being excited about Knight Rider
    2000
. I also remember having my memories of a
wonderful show crushed by sonic weapons, a car that
was \”better\” than KITT even though it obviously had no
personality and was less intelligent, etc. It wasn\’t
quite as crushing as when I got a chance to watch the
original series again. It really was bad.

  2. Not again!

Yeah, Knight Rider should definitely not be watched once one is past the age of ten or so. It really was bad. I worshipped that show as a kid — caught some reruns a couple years ago, and could not sit through them.

And yeah, I remember Knight Rider 2000. I wish I didn’t. Another two hours I’ll never get back!

What I’m wondering is, is this going to be a “serious” action movie, or are they going to go for a bunch of camp and kitsch a la the Charlie’s Angels movie? Because I feel we really don’t need any more of the latter.

I’m getting pretty weary of Hollywood strip-mining crappy 70s and 80s TV shows to adapt them to crappy movies that make even the original shows look good. Didn’t I hear something about an A-Team movie some time back, too? Ugh.

Who would play Hannibel? Seeing as George Pepard is dead.

How about Anthony Hopkins? “Instinct” and “Meet Joe Black” have safely established he’ll do anything :)

I dunno… maybe John Voight, or heck, why not Kurt Russell? Dye his hair gray, he’s certainly got the hammy attitude :)

If you want the hammy attitude, go with Mel Gibson.

Or how about Dwight Schultz? It would be a nice
place to put him in the movie after playing Murdock.

I hadn’t thought of that. I think Mel Gibson would be good in that role. I doubt he’d go anywhere near it, but it would be funny.

And I couldn’t see Dwight Schultz as anything but Murdock. Although I could see Matt Frewer as Murdock. :)
