So, Piranha Games, has announced that they’re working on a new Mechwarrior game in conjunction with Smith and Tinker games, the new company co-founded Jordan Weisman, who was also the co-founder of FASA, and who also helped create Mechwarrior. IGN has a very substantial interview with both men, discussing the new game, and with some embedded video of the trailer.
As an addendum, MW4 and it’s expansions are about to become free

Let’s hope they don’t mangle this like they did the Shadowrun game.
For those of us with little background (I know what Shadowrun was/is), what is the History of the Mangling?
Basically, they took the name and a little bit of the setting and made a shooter.

What I would love to see is a game based on their Tactical Combat Simulator (which was an add-on to the original Star Trek RPG).
Good times, good times.
I actually have a copy of that, though I haven’t played it yet – I picked it up at Guardian Games in Portland.
How well does it stand alone? I don’t have FASA Trek at the moment.
