It’s official: Variety is reporting that Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern movie. It’s slated to be directed by Martin Campbell (who directed the most recent “Casino Royale”) written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Green, all of whom have experience writing for both film and comics. Some sites still report the original December 2010 release date, but it has been postponed to a July 2011 release.
Completely off-topic, but do we still have a Submit Discussion thing somewhere?
We’d like to have one again. We’ve been discussing alternatives. I suppose you could e-mail one of the staff for now– not really a great option, however.
Meanwhile, it’s difficult to assess the choice for the Lantern. DC did nothing with Hal Jordan’s personality and then did everything to it. It will depend on what kind of Hal Jordan we’ll be seeing.
Personally, I’d prefer Guy Gardner or John Stewart.
Yeah, I’m not going to email people just cause I /really/ want to talk about Torchwood (;
I think they should have Jon Stewart as John Stewart.

Don’t forget the rumored appearance of the Man of Steel in the film, though as Clark Kent. He seems to make a lot of appearances without the tights or flights this century….
OK, I saw the still photo and was thinking, who the heck is Ryan Reynolds?
Then my girlfriend posted this youtube video to her facebook and I thought, OK – I can see him as Hal Jordan. He can do cocky, the man without fear, and he can do totally goof-off, and he can do pissed off and focused rage.
