Dollhouse Discussion – “Vows”

The second season of Dollhouse launches tonight. Whedon promised a new direction with a greatly reduced budget. If I know Whedon, by this time, you care about the characters enough that conversations and dialogue can have at least as much impact as explosions. (I won’t know for sure until I catch up on the Blu-Rays.) Is that the case here? Guest starring (for at least one episode, possibly more) Jamie Bamber of the latest Battlestar Galactica.

  1. Good episode, character-wise. Plot-wise, I can’t help but feel like everything’s a let-down after the un-aired finale from last season. We know where the arc is going, but the characters are still fun. I care what happens to them, just hope they can keep the stories interesting enough, given that we pretty much know where this is going.

  2. I can’t say I noticed any change. Having said that though I wonder if we’ll be treated to a few “people arguing in a small room” episodes like we did with Galactica somewhere in the middle of the season.

Dr. Saunders mindgames with Topher was probably the highlight of the episode for me.

  3. Agreed on both the “how can anything live up to the high note of the unaired ep” and Dr Saunders – Topher high points.. the Alpha-Ballard subplot is a bit grating – is it me or are Ballard’s intentions unclear?
