Well, another week, another set of digital disk picks. Not a lot here, with some bigger releases coming up later. Still, there’s there’s a bit of good stuff in there, somewhere.
First, the DVD picks:
- Adoration
- American Violet
- Antwone Fisher
- Boys Don’t Cry
- The Bronte Collection
- Drag Me To Hell
- Fighter: Alex: A Norwegan martial arts film, shot in Turkish, about a woman who wants to become a MMA fighter against the wishes of her traditional Turkish parents.
- Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid Complete (Remastered): Alex: Re-release of the series that I reviewed previously.
- Fox Searchlight Spotlight Collection Vol. 1: Includes “Juno,” “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Napoleon Dynamite.” Also on Blu-Ray.
- Fox Searchlight Spotlight Collection Vol. 2: Includes “The Full Monty,” “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Waitress.” Also on Blu-Ray.
- Fox Searchlight Spotlight Collection Vol. 3: Includes “Boys Don’t Cry,” “Antwone Fisher” and “The Last King of Scotland.” Also on Blu-Ray.
- Fox Searchlight Spotlight Collection Vol. 4: Includes “Garden State,” “Sideways” and “Thank You For Smoking.” Also on Blu-Ray.
- Futurama: The Complete Collection: Blaine: Now, that’s what I call cool packaging.
- Girlfriends: Complete Seventh Season
- Hardware
- The Haunted Airman
- The Hunger: The Complete Second Season
- Jackass: The Lost Tapes: Blaine: I’ve seen parts of Jackass. Perhaps the tapes should have stayed lost.
- Juno
- Kansas: There’s Know Place Like Home: Alex: Live concert by Kansas in Topika from earlier this year, backed up by a full orchestra.
- Kiba: The Complete Collection: Alex: Fantasy anime from Studio Madhouse (Black Lagoon, Trigun) based off a TCG.

- Land of the Lost: Season 3
- The Last of the Summer Wine Christmas Specials 1978-1982
- Legend of the Seeker: Complete First Season
- Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Vol. 7: Blaine: Note that there will not be a Golden Collection Vol. 7. Last year’s was the last of those, though Warner promises to launch a new line of cartoons restored on DVD that doesn’t duplicate titles with the Golden Collection editions.
- Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown
- Lovejoy: The Complete Season Six
- Lovejoy: The Complete Collection
- Married… With Children: Complete Eleventh Season
- Marvel Animation 6 Film Set: Blaine: There’s no explicit label on the packaging telling us what’s on here (at the time of this writing.) However, the art on the box would imply that it’s got “Ultimate Avengers,” “Ultimate Avengers 2,” “Invincible Iron Man,” “Dr. Strange,” “Hulk vs. Thor” and “Hulk vs. Wolverine” in it, omitting “Next Avengers.”
- Mouse: Complete Collection: Alex: I checked, and despite the cover art it’s not porn. It is rather fanservice heavy though. Apparently the series is about a group of thieves of the cat-burglar type.
- Moribito Volumes 5 & 6 – 2 Pack: Alex – Vol. 6 is also available seperately.
- My Family: Season 3
- My Family: Season 4
- Natural Born Killers: 205 minute Director’s Cut
- Neo Tokyo/New Fist Of The North Star: Alex: Double Feature of two anime films, one an adaptation of some of the later chapters of the Fist of the North Star manga, and the other a collection of short films, featuring work by Taro Rin, and Katsuhiro Otomo (director and creator of Akira).
- The Proposal: Single Disc Edition
- The Proposal: Two Disc Edition
- Some Assembly Required – Seasons 1 and 2
- Tom and Jerry’s Greatest Chases, Vol. 3
- Tokyo Majin: Alex: Semi-urban fantasy anime based on a series of video games (which didn’t get a US release.
- TNA Hard Justice 2009: Alex: Mick Foley returns to active wresting and, by all accounts, really shouldn’t have.
- Where the Day Takes You
- WWE Breaking Point 2009: Alex: This is the re-done version of the Unforgiven Pay-Per-View, given a more submission-based theme, with the major feud matches being either submission matches or “I Quit” matches.

Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “either grab Futurama, pick up the most appealing Fox Searchlight collection, or save your money for the annual November flood.” Alex says, “Alas, but I haven’t seen Futurama. That said, I reccomend picking up the complete series of Lovejoy – I grew up watching the show on cable, and became a Ian McShane fan well before Deadwood (not that I have anything against Deadwood), though the show is much tamer than the books (no heads getting crushed in millraces), or impalements (the original novel of Gold By Gemini), or ice bullets to the eye-socket (the original novel of The Judas Pair). Still a great show though. And if that doesn’t interest you, I reccomend one of the Fox Searchlight collections.”
WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU WAITING FOR???
Hey a Preview option would be nice, that was supposed to have a blockquote in it. (:
I’m not entirely sure what I’m waiting for, to be honest. Part of it is me forgetting to add it to my Netflix queue, and part of it is because my queue is full. Once room is freed up in my queue, I’ll add it. There are a lot of things that I need to see, that I haven’t. I need to see Chuck. I need to watch season 1 of Heroes (at least). I need to watch Rashomon.
I will try though to watch it.
