Law and Order: Special Victims Unit infrequently has what I call “psychic” episodes. The SVU cops, who specialize in sexually-based offenses, find themselves on a case which has no apparent sexual component. Of course, they eventually discover that it is a sex case, after all. It’s as though the person in charge knew in advance how the case would turn out, and called the SVU.
Last night’s Fringe had a similar sort of beginning. Olivia gets called to investigate a non-Fringe case. It looks like assault by someone with schizophrenia. Of course, it turns out to be a real nightmare, and entirely suited to the Fringe Force.
Do people want full Fringe reviews? We haven’t had much discussion of this show lately.

Um, I thought the dude’s blinking eyes (I was thinking they looked like a lizards eyes) at the beginning of the episode pretty much gave it away that the Fringer’s were going to be involved.
Also, I found it odd that nobody seemed to hold Walter accountable for assaulting Agent Kashner. .
I’m crossing my fingers that since Fox picked it up for all 22 episodes this year, it’ll get better since the actors seem to be a lot more comfortable in their characters this year. Hell, even Anna Torv seems to be a lot better than she was last year.
Without question, the Fringers were going to be involved. I just found it odd that (in the reality of the show) this didn’t fly under their radar, at least until the guy died. The initial incident didn’t seem strange enough.
You hit one thing that I agree with. The acting and overall sense of the characters has improved. I still wouldn’t miss Fringe if it were canceled, but it has improved.

Astrid had a line about seeing video of something strange going on (presumably the thing with the guy’s eyes.) Granted, it wasn’t much, but it seemed like a clear enough reason for fringe division to at least check it out.
