This is one of the last of the slim weeks. There are a small number of extremely notable releases, and a lot of mediocrity. This tends to reverse by the end of November.
First, the DVD picks:
- Adult Swim in a Box: Includes “Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume 2,” “Space Ghost Season 3,” “Moral Oral Season 1,” “Robot Chicken Season 2,” “Metalocalypse Season 1,” and “Sealab Season 2.”

- Angel and the Badman
- The Barbara Stanwyck Show, Vol. 1
- Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
- The Best of Monty Python
- Claymore Complete Series

- Naruto Shippuden Vol. 2
- Night of the Creeps
- Nothing Like the Holidays
- Orphan
- Popotan Complete: Alex: Fanservice heavy romantic comedy anime based on an H-Game.
- The Prisoner: The Complete Series Megaset: There appears to be no difference in content when compared to the 40th Anniversary Collection.
- The Sam Fuller Film Collection
- Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1960s Vol. 2
- Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s Vol. 2
- Shonen Onmyouji: The Complete Series
- Stan Helsing
- Sugar: Little Snow Fairy Vol. 1: A very, very, cutey anime about an apprentice snow fairy.
- Tales From The Darkside: The Second Season
- Twilight: Blaine: What are the production runs on this title? Seriously, how many times can you release the same movie in the same year? Especially one this bad. (The book has to be much better than the film. There’s no other way to explain the sales.)
- UFO Hunters: Complete Season One
- Whatever Works
- Wrestling With Shadows: Alex: A documentary about wrestling, which, through lucky coincidence, manages to be at the arena backstage for the Montreal Screwjob.
- Z (Criterion Collection)
Now, the Blu-Ray picks:
- Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
- Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
- Lovecraft
- Monty Python: Almost The Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut)
- Night of the Creeps
- Nothing Like the Holidays
- Orphan
- The Prisoner: The Complete Series
- Stan Helsing
- Stargate: 15th Anniversary Edition
- Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure
- Whatever Works
Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “If you’ve got Blu-Ray and don’t own it already, go ahead and get The Prisoner. If you don’t have Blu-Ray… I’d wait another week or two.” Blaine says, “I’ve seen very few of the releases this week. Restricting myself to that I’ve actually seen, the Monty Python sets are an easy choice. If I include the stuff I’ve been wanting to see based on reputation, then the Prisoner and Battlestar Galactica releases become strong contenders.”
Sadly, the book for Twilight isn’t any better than the movie. The movie trims a lot of the girlie BS and gets down to the plot.
Unfortunately, the plot is pointless and trite.
