Now that the warm weather is fully upon us, our thoughts drift to vacations. Sure, everyone goes to the beach, mountains, lake, whatever, but what are the best "Geek Vacations?"
Let me put some qualifiers on the discussion. No fantasy vacations (rocket to Alpha Centauri) and none that are financially impossible (we can’t all be Dennis Tito). So with that in mind, where would you go?
KSC
I had a fantastic time at the Kennedy Space Center in
February.
Well
Personally, I’d go to the IJA fest, but noooo, 500$ admission fee! Screw you IJA!
Erhum, anyhow, a convention of some sort is usually pretty good. You can usually find something along the lines of your hobbies and they don’t tend to cost that much (burn in hell IJA!).
Can you tell I’m annoyed at the IJA?
How about War?
Well, I always love to go to War during those long summer months. http://calontir.sca.org/lilieswar/index.html

Also going to hit the British Museum and if there is time, will visit the Games Workshop main office in Nottingham.
Geek Cruises
Geek Cruises are becoming the hot thing. Check out this web page: Geek Cruises. I have been seriously thinking about going on “Java Jam III”.
Re: Geek Cruises
That link should point here. To link to a
page from our comments, include the http:// bit (as
bigwolf
did), making sure you use the correct / instead of the
other one (as
bigwolf didn’t.) Using the other slash is non-standard,
and gives different behaviour in different browsers, so it
should be used even on websites that do leave it
there.
Geek Vacations…
Might I suggest being a geek for a while?
My last vacation was spent SCUBA diving off of West Palm Beach Florida. This weekend I’m headed for New Hampshire to go to the nations oldest motorcycle rally.
Get out of the offices, away from the computers and get a life!
