First, the DVD picks:
- Adam-12: Season Four
- Alexander the Last
- Armored Fleet Dairugger Collection One: Alex: This is the series that made up the second half of Voltron (the first half was made up by Go-Lion)
- Bleach Vol. 25
- The Box
- Crisis On Two Earths (Two Disc Edition): Blaine: At the time of this writing, the latest Bruce Timm produced DC superhero flick is the same price in this edition as it is in the single disc edition.
- Crisis on Two Earths (Amazon Exclusive Two Disc plus Lithograph edition)
- Crisis on Two Earths (Single Disc Edition)
- The Damned United
- Dead Snow: Blaine: If what I’ve heard is true, this is a surprisingly well received European horror about Nazi zombies.
- Double Indemnity: Blaine: This Val Kilmer flick is a direct to video remake, not the Fred MacMurray original.
- Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: Complete Season Three
- Eclipse Series 20 – George Bernard Shaw on Film: Includes “Major Barbara,” “Caesar and Cleopatra,” and “Androcles and the Lion.”
- Everybody’s Fine
- FlashForward: Season One, Part One
- Forgotten Noir Double Feature, Vol. 13: Breakdown and Eye Witness
- G.B.H.
- The Ghost Hunters, Season Five, Part One
- Howard’s End (Criterion Collection)
- The Informant
- Jersey Shore: Season One Uncensored
- LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers
- Make Way for Tomorrow (Criterion Collection)
- Maria-Holic: Complete Collection
- Motherhood
- My Three Sons, Season Two Volume 1: Blaine: This one really is the Fred MacMurray version. Completely unrelated trivia: modelling comic characters on celebrities is nothing new, it’s just more obvious with today’s art printing technology. Fred MacMurray’s image was the basis for the Billy Batson version of Captain Marvel.
- Night Court: Season Three
- Nurse Jackie, Season One
- Open Graves
- Orson Welles: The Legend Collection: Includes “Macbeth,” “Citizen Kane,” “Chimes at Midnight,” “The Trial,” “The Magnificent Ambersons,” and “Mr. Arkadin.”
- Project Runway: Season Six
- The September Issue
- Shall We Kiss?
- Sorority Row
- Superjail! Season One
- Swedish Auto
- Taxi Hunter: Alex: Near as I can tell, this is Falling Down except the D-Fens character has it in solely for Taxis, and D-Fens is a hero character instead of a tragic villain.
- Tower of Druaga Part 2: Sword of Uruk: Alex: This is actually a sequel series to the prior “Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk”
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon: This is an adaptation, by Takeshi Miike (director of Ichi the Killer and boat-loads of other movies), of the Sega RPG/Brawler “Yakuza” (titled “Like a Dragon” in Japan). The film follows the plot of the first game.
Now, the Blu-Ray picks:
- The Box
- The Crazies
- Crisis on Two Earths (Amazon Exclusive with Lithograph)
- Crisis on Two Earths (Two Disc Edition)
- The Damned United
- Dead Snow
- Google Me
- Ichi the Killer
- The Informant
- Motherhood
- Nurse Jackie: Season One
- Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead
- Sorority Row
- Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day
Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “The Orson Welles collection is nice, but I’m not sure I can recommend it all that strongly, particularly in light of some of the titles coming in March.” Alex says, “Not a lot of movies or serise that I can pick this week, in part due to not having watched them before-hand. However, I will be adding “Crisis on Two Earths” to my Netflix queue, for what it’s worth.”
