First, the DVD picks:
- 101 Timeless TV Classics!
- The Art of Being Straight
- Benhur: Tale of the Christ: Blaine: As this is a 1925 edition, I suspect it’s the same one that was a bonus feature on the release of the four disc 1959 edition. I should probably get around to watching my copy some day.
- Big Screen Bombshells: 20 Movie Collection
- Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
- The Brothers Warner
- Capitalism: A Love Story: Blaine: Michael Moore is back.
- Cinema Insomnia: Carnival of Souls
- Cinema Insomnia: Night of the Living Dead: Blaine: This isn’t just the movie, but is also a late night hosted version of the movie.
- Civilisation: Complete Series
- The Commish: Season One
- Dalziel and Pascoe: Season One
- Elephant Man
- Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone: Alex: Special Edition of the first film in the “Eva Rebuild” series. Blaine: My review of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series will appear next weekend.
- Familiar Of Zero: Season 1 Collection
- La Femme Nikita
- GaoGaiGar Season 2: Alex: Continuation of the super robot series. Cover art aside, I’ve seen season 1, and it doesn’t particularly have nearly the fanservice that the cover implies.
- Good Intentions
- Greek: Season Four
- In Plain Sight: Season Two
- Justin Time
- Kenichi: The Mightiest Deciple Season 2, Part 1: Alex: As a reminder, this is the continuation of the series about a teenager learning self confidence by learning martial arts.
- Matt Houston: The First Season
- The Memory Thief
- Naruto Shippuden Vol. 7
- Nine Dead
- Old Dogs (Single Disc Edition)
- Paris
- Planet 51
- Precious
- Roy Rogers – King of the Cowboys: Blaine: I know it has 20 feature films. I just don’t know which 20.
- Savage Cinema: 20 Movie Collection
- Scarecrow and Mrs. King: Complete Season One
- The Second Best Science Fiction Movie Ever Made: Blaine: Made by a whole bunch of people I’ve never heard of. And I read the credits on pretty much everything.
- Silk Stalkings: Season One
- Sonny Chiba Collection: Contains G.I. Samurai (aka Time Slip), Ninja Wars (aka Black Magic Wars), Legend of the Eight Samurai, and Resurrection of Golden Wolf.
- The Stoning of Soraya M.
- Tenspeed and Brown Shoe: Blaine: Produced by Stephen J. Cannell and starring Jeff Goldblum and Ben Vereen
- Tremors: Complete Series
- Undead: The Vampire Collection 20 Movie Pack
- Up in the Air: Blaine: Best Picture nominee. Results will be known tonight.
- Wanted: Dead or Alive: Season Two
- Wiseguy: The Collector’s Edition: Blaine: 67 episodes from four seasons. According to TV.com, there were 76 episodes produced. I don’t know which nine are missing. Heck, I don’t know if “67” was just a typo and they reversed the digits.
- Wrath of the Titans: Blaine: Ray Harryhausen approved and guided a comic book sequel to his original Clash of the Titans. This is a motion comic adaptation of that comic series.
- WWE – Shawn Michaels: My Journey: Alex: A new collection of various matches from Shawn Michaels career, with some actual better representation of his career than the last boxed set (and with matches that haven’t ended up in 6 different other WWE boxed sets).
- You’re Under Arrest: Full Throttle Collection 1 : Alex: The start of season 3 of the slice-of-life comedy about traffic cops in the Tokyo area from the creator of “Ah! My Goddess”.
Now, the Blu-Ray picks:
- The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
- Capitalism: A Love Story
- Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone
- Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Vol. 1: Alex: A new OVA series returning to the Gundam Universal Century universe.
- Old Dogs (Single Disc Edition)
- Old Dogs (Three Disc Edition): Blaine: Oddly enough, there is no multiple disc DVD edition.
- Paris
- Planet 51
- Precious
- Red Balloon / White Mane: Blaine: I’ve only seen The Red Balloon, but it’s a very well made short film appropriate for all ages.
- The Stoning of Soraya M.
- Up in the Air
Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I’m going with You’re Under Arrest: Full Throttle. Yes, It’s season 3 of an anime series, but I started watching the series with (essentially) no prior knowledge of the series (aside from reading one volume of manga and reading the Wikipedia page for the franchise) and I was able to follow the series without any problems.” Blaine says, “I haven’t seen it recently, but I never missed Scarecrow and Mrs. King during the original broadcast. Granted, I was six years old when these episodes aired, but it’s still on my must have list.”
