We’re streamlining a bit more, with multiple editions of the same product in the same line. Similarly, different seasons or sequels are also grouped together. As a reader, how do you feel about having DVD and Blu-Ray releases of the same title combined on the same line and clearly marked?
First, the DVD picks:
- 7th Heaven: Complete Tenth Season
- The 14 Amazons: Alex: Funimation’s first go at releasing a Shaw Brothers film.
- The African Queen in a commemmorative box or regular edition.
- Bigger Than Life (Criterion Collection)
- The Blind Side
- Bob’s Big Break and Shrek 3D
- Brothers
- Case Closed Seasons 3, 4 and 5
- Darker Than Black: The Complete Series
- Fantastic Mr. Fox
- Father Knows Best: Season Four
- Free Willy: Escape From Pirate’s Cove
- Judy Garland Show 3
- The Lair: Complete Season Three
- Life With Derek: Complete Third Season
- Mad Men: Season Three
- The Men Who Stare At Goats
- The Prisoner (2009)
- Red Cliff International Version Parts 1 and 2: Alex: John Woo’s epic film about the Battle of Red Cliff during China’s Three Kingdoms period. It’s safe to say that there will be no gunfights in churches here.
- Sabrina the Teenage Witch: Season Six: Blaine: Series star Melissa Joan Hart was 25 when this season launched. How old can witches get and still be called teens?
- Shaolin Handlock: Alex: Another Shaw Brothers Flick.
- TNA Genesis 2010: Alex: This isn’t where Hogan returned to the ring, but it’s where he signed on with TNA, and depending on how you look at it, it could be the beginning of the end for the company.
- WWE Elimination Chamber: Alex: WWE’s Elimination Chamber themed Pay-Per View.
Now, the Blu-Ray picks:
- The African Queen in a commemmorative box or regular edition.
- Bigger Than Life
- The Blind Side
- Brothers
- Days of Heaven
- The Fantastic Mr. Fox
- Free Willy: Escape From Pirate’s Cove
- Mad Men: Season Three
- The Men Who Stare At Goats
- Red Cliff Theatrical Version, International Version Parts 1 and 2
- Toy Story or Toy Story 2
- Trinity Blood
- Yojimbo and Sanjuro (Criterion Collection): Blaine: North American audiences are probably more familiar with the western remake of “Yojimbo,” which was called “A Fistful of Dollars.” You can also purchase Yojimbo only or Sanjuro only. Alex: These are two of my favorites of all of Kurosawa’s films.
Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “my pick of the week is the Yojimbo & Sanjuro collection. These two films just go well together, and are definitely among Kurosawa’s best.” Blaine says, “listen to Alex.”
This is much easier to read and I like it. I would not mind seeing the Blu-Rays in line with the DVD’s.
I like having the DVDs and Blu-rays separated. I don’t have a Blu-ray player and might get confused over Blu-ray-only releases.
I think the separate columns works, for reasons Chad gives.
Now where are the HD DVD, VHS, and Beta releases?
My pick: “The African Queen.”
Now that’s a date night movie.
Huh?
I agree with Blaine that you should listen to Alex.
