Hamlet (2009) DVD Blu-Ray
Alex: I liked this version of Hamlet – though it’s not as good as Branagh’s version (which is due out on Blu-Ray in August) in my opinion, due to some material they cut from the end of the play (at least from what I saw on PBS).

Super Heroes
Elektra Director’s Cut
Alex: If you lower your expectations and come into this expecting a corny B-level 80s ninja flick, you won’t be disappointed, and may have a little fun, IMHO.
Flash Gordon (1980) Saviour of the Universe Edition
Iron Man: Armored Adventures Complete Season One
Blaine: This is the current animated series.
Marvel Iron Man Complete Animated Series
Blaine: This is the 1997 cartoon.
Wolverine and the X-Men: Revelation
X-Men (1990s TV series) Volume 5
Blaine: This completes the series run on DVD. I should probably get around to watching volume one soon.

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “Beyond a doubt Hamlet is my pick of the week. It’s not as good as the Branagh version, but that’s no slight against it. In particular, Tennant is an excellent Hamlet, and Patrick Stewart is fantastic in the role of Claudius.” Blaine says, “I recommend Matinee. It’s a great little flick that’s not spectacular, but is definitely a well made look at the Cold War era teen life with some great nods to the horror movies of the time.”

  1. Actually I really like the format. The headers make it easier to see what I’m looking at, especially when I don’t always recognize the titles. :)
