Jackie Chan – The Action Pack DVD
Alex: A collection of 4 of the Wuxia films that Jackie was in before Sammo Hung made “Legend of the Fat Dragon” and studio executives in Hong Kong realized that comedic Kung Fu films could work.
MacGyver: The TV Movies DVD
Blaine: These two specials (“Lost Treasure of Atlantis” and “Trail to Doomsday”) were a part of the complete series box set, but have now been released in a set for the sake of those who bought the seasons as they came out the first time. I enjoyed season one well enough, but I have it on good authority that these will not hold up as well.
Anime
Clannad Complete Collection
Alex: Based on the visual novel series.
Witchblade Veridian Collection
Alex: Based on the manga based on the comic from Top Cow.
X The Complete Series
Alex: Anime series based on the manga I’ve been reviewing. Once I’ve finished reviewing the manga I’ll try to get a review of the Anime.

Gamera Super Monster DVD
Showgirls 15th Anniversary Sinsational Edition
Blaine: I bought a copy on DVD during one of MGM’s “buy two get one free” promotions. I hoped to enjoy it on a “Plan 9” level, but couldn’t. It’s blatantly obvious that Verhoeven knew he was making a terrible movie, and he practically mocks the audience for spending money on a movie they knew would be bad just because of all the nudity. If you must shell out for it, watch it on mute. It’ll be far more entertaining that way.

Unthinkable DVD Blu-Ray

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I got nothing. While X is going in my Netflix queue so I can review it after reading the manga, I can’t pick it for my pick of the week, as I haven’t seen it yet.” Blaine says, “if you have Blu-Ray capability, Supernatural is a must have. If you don’t have Blu-Ray capability, Supernatural should be your excuse to upgrade. This season scored 38 out of 42 in its review, and that’s the lowest score of any of the first four seasons. I should have a review of season five ready for early September, as that season has a rumoured September 7 release date, and I’ve got the DVR grabbing reruns so I can do a marathon over that long weekend. Expect weekly reviews of season six.”
