Weekly Digital Disc Picks – October 5, 2010

There are a few interesting new releases this week, as well as what appears to be half of MGM’s entire back catalog. Much of the back catalog is being released in DVD/Blu-Ray combo packs, so you can watch it on DVD now and have the automatic upgrade later. Those are listed in the Blu-Ray category. There are also more than 50 multiple movie combination packs that are not listed here due to space considerations.

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “We have a lot of really good classics on DVD and Blu-Ray this week, one of which I’ll be reviewing as part of our Halloween Horror Spree this year. If you haven’t seen The Exorcist – get that on Blu-Ray, preferably before Halloween, so you can see it before my review goes up and can thus comment on it. If you already own a copy of the Exorcist, then get Full Metal Panic Fumoffu, because it is one of the funniest anime series of the last decade.” Blaine says, “Maltese Falcon, hands down.”

  1. Someone thought that Troll 2 was worth releasing again? Find that person and send them to Antarctica immediately along with every DVD of this horrid movie that was ever produced.

  2. If you don’t have “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”, I’d go with that. They just don’t make movies like that anymore. It’s like 15 minutes before anyone even SAYS anything.

  3. Interesting that Classic Quad Set 18 has Battle for the Planet of the Apes, but not PotA. Do they figure everyone who’s interested already has the first one? Or was the sequel that good?
