Fringe Discussion: “6955 kHZ”

Several people develop retrograde amnesia, the Fringe Force discovers pieces of a great device, both Olivias find themselves in difficult situations, and the conspiracy theories grow loopier. I only hope the “First People” amounts to a cover fantasy created by Walternate, because otherwise, it pushes the show a little too far into Tinfoil-Hat-Silly. Yeah, even for Fringe.

Still, we’re left with much over which to puzzle– and the writers gave Our Astrid something to do.

Rather incidentally, after watching Walter and Nina share a joint, I had to wonder how recently and how often the writers have been on a contemporary college campus. Their comments seem to reflect a series of media cliches, rather than historical and series realities.

OR… It’s the way older people REMEMBER their college days 40 years later… I’ve got a few friends that age; in that context, the conversation seemed right to me…

Remember, the conversation was SUPPOSED to sound like it came from somebody who hasn’t been on a campus on quite a while.

Just my opinion; I could be wrong.

    • I’ll give you the nostalgic factor, since people often rewrite their memories. I have a hard time believing that these people, who immediately went to work for hardcore establishment places doing really dodgy work, were in any real sense hippies.

not to continue to beat a dead horse… but the same response answers this one too. Nina never had to be a hippie for her to think of her self as such when she talks about her college days…

As for Walter… I figure he had chunks of his brain sliced out by his best friend. And I bet he WOULD have been a hippie, if he had gone to college in his present state.
