  1. I don’t actually want to know…
To tell the truth, for once I’d rather they focus on the stories and the mysteries, rather than on the “who am I”. Yes, yes, we know, you want to know who/what you are. And I like the time travel idea. BUT, I’m reminded too much of The Pretender. Focus more on the Sherlock Holmes aspect of it.

Traditionally I’d be all over it (ooh, is he a time traveller? A robot? Escapee from a secret government think tank?), but I read an interview where the creators mentioned that they wanted to do an updated Holmes. So they created a clever backstory for it. I personally like the idea of the Holmesian character more than I do the Pretender knock-off. Just tone down the random “I won at Trivial Pursuit” bon-mots, focus on the odd detective work, and I think you’ll have a show that might actually survive.

But, a good episode, some nice hints (anyone else think that his “vision” looked like the traditional camera shot of the Jesus statue that’s over Rio de Janeiro?), and some nice character development.

cool…I thought I might be the only one…

  2. Cars don’t explode!!!
(okay, so I’m just watching it now…I taped it)
the thing that really pisses me off about this sort of thing is that cars DON’T EXPLODE LIKE THAT. dammit. sloppy writing.

The car crashed into a propane tank, if I remember correctly. I had assumed that it was the propane that exploded, and the car just happened to be close enough to get caught in the blast.

ah. just went back and reviewed the portion of the tape in question. heh. guess I should have done that before ranting. You are absolutely correct, the car rolled over and crushed a propane tank, thus causing the explosion that normally wouldn’t have happened. Thanks for the heads up. Renewed faith in the show.
