Ordinarily, I would link to the official source, but the site (which shall remain un-URL-ed) was so bad and so full of obnoxious pop-ups, I refuse to subject my readers to it.  Use Google if you’re a glutton for punishment.

  1. You know, if he really wanted to make a comeback, a great way to acknowledge he’d made a mistake and show he plans to do better would become the second recipient to show up to accept the award. :) Honestly I think he’d regain at least some respect for doing that.

The first, of course, was Sandra Bullock last year (?). Her speech was great! Of course, I get the impression she wasn’t terribly happy about the movie either (and the movie obviously didn’t hurt her career) so she could come and laugh about it; MNS would have to look positively chagrined for it to work.

    • That’s fantastic! :) I obviously misremembered. Bullock must be the second, then. Certainly haven’t been many!

      • Bill Cosby and Tom Green also picked them up in person. Cosby was for “The Devil and Max Devlin,” and his acceptance speech was along the lines of “I told them the rewrites sucked.” Tom Green showed up because he didn’t expect to win a serious award at any time. He was disappointed that they didn’t have a red carpet to walk down, but he’d brought his own and rolled it out. My opinion of Tom Green actually improved after that story; the original source was longer with quotes, but I got the distinct impression that Tom Green knows his movies were crap, and he made them because he recognized he could spend 3-5 years as a complete sellout making profitable crap and then retire. That appears to be exactly what he did.
