Firefly petition

Anonymous Coward writes, There’s a petition asking Fox to give the show a chance to develop despite less then stellar Neilsons. To me, this show has more potential than anything since Crusade, so let’s make sure Joss gets a chance to develop it!

I haven’t heard the cancellation rumors yet. I’m not surprised though. I was signature number 4,114.

Odd. I’m 4071. What are the odds on that?

Higher than you might think since my sig is there because your posted your sig and then posted the article, so our sigs represent casually related events…but you’re right, weird.

Well, math geek that I am, I couldn’t help myself. I went back to the site at around 5:30 my local time and there were 4209 sigs. Running the numbers based on the data points here shows that for the first hour after Bureau 42 ran this story the petition was getting a new sig every 1.7 min; in the next two hours the rate slowed to 2.9 minutes between sigs, and in the six hours between when I signed and “now” the rate averaged a new sig every 9.5 minutes. Great idea, but at this rate they’re not gonna break 5000. Sigh.

Ooops, I see that Bureau 42 posts on Pacific time so my final figure should be based on FOUR hours not six and the corresponding average number of minutes per sig is thus around 6.3 instead of 9.5. The conclusion that they’ll be lucky to break 5000 stands.

  2. Hmm
    Signature 4353.

Honestly, this is one of the few good sci-fi shows on TV. The characters are really developing well and the last two episodes were really funny and interesting compared to other shows.

As a lifelong Trekkie I’ve been disappointed with Enterprise, and Farscape is going away, so the only thing left on TV worth watching in the ‘space adventure’ sci-fi type thing on regular TV is Firefly that I know of.

Odyssey 5 and Jerimiah are good, but you have to pay to get them.
